Dave was a guy who called Rush Limbaugh about 10 years ago, maybe a bit longer. He wanted a freebie subscription to Rush's newsletter. It was something like $39 a year and he said he simply couldn't afford it at that point in his life. Rush was sympathetic but suggested that instead of getting freebie that he hold a bake sale. This was back when kids and schools were having bake sales to help reduce the national debt, a corny Liberal idea that sounded great but did little good.

Dan agreed and then Rush said he would help support the bake sale and show up himself. It was some little town in, I forget where, maybe Colorado. Anyway, Rush pushed it for a month or so and a huge number of people showed up, something on the order of 100,000. Rush came by helicopter and said that they flew over miles and miles of traffic jams.

I'm sure others can provide more info, and I might be off a bit on some of my recollections, but I'm pretty close.

I would like to see another Dave's Bake Sale, this time with Sarah and Michelle and Liz and some dyed in the wool conservatives like John Bolton and Ollie North.

My guess Rush could get nearly a million people to show up!

Here's the link to the Wikipedia blurb on the event: Dan's Bake Sale

Uh oh, now I see what you meant. Foolish me! My bad. Hey, it was years ago, and I'm an old fart. Sorry, Dan, mea culpa!

Thanks for setting me straight!
