DALLAS: Sarah Palin Booksigning Event SOLD OUT!! (vanity)
11-19-09

Posted on 11/19/2009 11:11:09 AM PST by pillut48

...And I am kicking myself! :-(

I called the bookstore yesterday and talked to a nice lady who gave me details. Her final question was, "Would you like to purchase this over the phone? I can do that for you!" and stupid me, I say, NOOOOOOO, I'll come over in person tomorrow (today) and pay in person.

Drove all the way over there this morning and was told they completely SOLD OUT!!!! this morning right after opening--I guess conservatives in Dallas area heard what happened in Michigan with the overwhelming response to Sarah's first stop, and decided not to take any chances.

I'm so disappointed. :*( My 9 y/o daughter Maya is going to be sooooooo upset, she wanted to meet Sarah in person so bad!! :*(

Anyone in the Dallas area, if you hear of 2 extra tickets to the Legacy bookstore event on Friday, Dec. 4th, please please let me know!!

Maya has been wanting to meet Sarah Palin since we first saw her last year during the campaign. She is one of my daughter’s biggest role models! The autograph would be icing on the cake...so just getting a signed book wouldn’t work. But thank you for the suggestion. The bookstore lady said there would be signed nameplates that were available for purchase as well at the store, in case others are only interested in the signed book itself.

This isn’t unusual—a celebrity can only sign so many books in a short amount of time. This particular store isn’t doing the bracelet thing (where people show up and camp outside the night before, etc.), they are doing a ticket system. They aren’t allowing people to bring their own books for security reasons (and to make bigger sales for themselves) so you have to purchase a book in advance. Instead of getting the book, you get a ticket. On the day of the signing, you bring your ticket to get in, and when you get close to your turn, you turn in your ticket for your book, give it to Sarah for signing, say hi, we love you SAVE AMERICA FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHILD PLEASE!! and move on. So technically it’s not really a ticket for the event like a concert ticket or something.

I went to craigslist and I searched in the Dallas area, did not see anything, but I will keep looking. I want your daughter to have the opportunity to meet her. I don’t think its fair that the police are saying that they won’t allow anyone near there without a wrist band to even be in the area. I will keep looking

I can’t find that she’s doing anything in Southern California.....I’d hope she’d hit our Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area), since the Palin in-laws have their winter home just down the road.

“Since when do you have to buy tickets for a book signing”

That’s what I was thinking. I was going to go but had no idea you had to have tickets. Oh well, guess I’m not going.

Well, the location of the store is such that there's really no place for huge crowds to go--

Thank you so much for your efforts. If you could find even just 1, Maya’s mature enough to go through the line herself—I don’t have to be there.

Tickets=purchasing Sarah’s book from the bookstore.

It’s not an extra fee or anything to attend.

I found this on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/Dec-4-2009-Meet-Sarah-Palin-at-Legacy-Books-in-Plano_W0QQitemZ230401692434QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Tickets_all_in_one?hash=item35a502d312

You should contact this person, it’s only for ONE ticket though. Contact him and see how reliable he is. But it looks good

Your best chance maybe to watch the local paper classifieds closely for the next few days and be willing to pay top dollar. There maybe something pop up in them.

Here’s one example where to check;

I’m looking for SoCal signings, as well. Someone pointed out to me that there is a star on the map at her book tour
site indicating a CA signing, but not the city. If I see one, I’ll let you know.

Are you sure that they just aren’t out of books? If they are, you can bet that the store owner or manager is in touch with Harper to arrange more copies for the signing.

Thanks! Hopefully people won’t be asking an arm and a leg, ‘cause we can’t pay that much ;-) but again, I’m all for capitalism and if someone can make a good profit on tickets, more power to them.

Nothing like the pitiful book signing of Cindy Sheehan. The one where nobody showed up to buy a book.

I heard a report yesterday saying she’s sold about 6 million copies of her book so far.

No way - please provide a source.

Thanks! I got my book from Amazon yesterday, hopefully we’ll find at least 1 ticket to the booksigning in two weeks here!

No, I found out you did have to have tickets. I think they were $29.99.
