I do, and I stand behind it.

Democrats traditionally get somewhere in the very low 40s for the last mutliple elections from whites. Obama actually got a higher percentage of whites than previous candidates -— 4% — for an increase of 2.96% of the total vote.

If whites voted as they did in the past two elections, McCain would have won. (Or come damn close, I’d have to do a state-by-state look, and I don’t know if that data is available.)

All that said, I agree the mindless minority voting block is an issue.

BTW, here's a 100% accurate prediction: on August 9 I predicted the House would pass the bill. This was a time when a lot of people said the "blue dogs" would vote against it. www.patriotshistoryusa.com and check the Aug. 9 blog.

This one will get all Dems and, if necessary, one or two Republicans to vote cloture, then pass with 51, probably including Snowe or Colllins, allowing Nelson and Lincoln and others to opt out so they can say they "voted against" the bill. But of course, by voting for cloture, they voted for it. Now, you can't get much more specific with a prediction than that.

This is silly, a poster up the thread points out the groups that put Obama in the White House by supporting him overwhelmingly (96%-78%-etc.)and you want to protect them and attack white voters because they gave 43% to Obama which by the way was only 1% more than Gore got and 2% more than Kerry.

It isn’t the solid Republican white majority that is the problem, it is the slavish devotion by of some other groups that gives the Democrat party power.

The three professional polling entities all have Zero polling below the 50% mark.

The three “unbiased” network news polls have him above 50%, and whats more, his margin of approval above disapproval is in the double digits.

If you average just the three professional pollsters, you end up with 48 approve, 46 disapprove, which is probably about where reality is, and is AMAZINGLY close to the poll done by the evil, wretched, despicable right wingers a Fox News.
