A friend of mine sent me this story of his time in the Marine Corps. Read through to the end, its a shocker.
What strikes me most is what he said as to where he grew up: Indonesia. He told me he wanted to be President of the US someday. I remember lightly smiling and commenting that maybe by the time he gets to be 40 or so, America will be ready for a Black man to be President and I wished him luck. We spoke of the racial tensions I saw at home while growing up and I asked him if he ever saw that overseas or since he returned back to Hawaii. I dont remember his answer, but we spoke more of his time overseas and his thoughts on life and philosophy of government. He made some strange comments to me, it was obvious he never set foot for any time in the continental United States and I told him he better realize that he is making judgments about the United States when he himself never actually lived there. I told him, Hawaii aint the United States!
He also told me something that I never forgot, for it caused me to do some other things in an effort to be nice to him and possibly a favor. We spoke of where I had been and the world as I saw it. I told him I had been to Africa , Mombassa specifically, and he said to me abruptly, I was born there. I told him he is not eligible to be president if that was true, but I remembered he said his mom was an American, so, maybe it was okay.

Hmmmm..... not buying this story!
Mombasa?? Whoa, Nellie!!
The guy should swear to it on an affidavit.
What do you consider to be the most eggregious part of it?
The Kenyan may eventually get outed.
And it took this long for the story to come out?
I don’t believe this is authentic. It seems over written to prove the point about Obama’s citizenship - sure has alot of focus on exactly where he was said to be born, just how out of touch he is with US culture, that he wanted to be president etc. All the controversy distilled into a few sentences - and written with a casual style - and turning up -now.
Ditto. Those attempting to cover their tracks always seem to forget some minor detail that does them in. This case will be no exception. Hopefully before his term is up or he is up for re-election. Someone somewhere has "something."
Agreed. I grew up military and can point out several issues without trying.
A faux email rumor making it to blogs. I see the blogger left off the part about emailing it to 10 friends in 10 minutes and you will have good luck.

Yeah, and this guy's really CHP!
Faith and begorra!! Methinks the wee little people are havin’ a bit o’ sport wi’ us!!
If this is true, whay has it taken so long for this person to come forward with this cock and bull story????
Tens of thousands of Marines here in San Diego and never saw one with that haircut or bunched out shirt.
Because the guy telling the story only wrote it down because he is going to college for vocational rehab due to a spinal injury and had to take a lit and comp course for his new degree, his instructor is a conservative and he told her the story, and she wanted him to write it as a short story.
LOL So true! That hair alone would give Eric Estrada a run for his money.
That’s me
seriously
he he hehe
You think that guys a poser?
You sure?
You can? Just what issues are you pointing out?
I’m curious...
No.
It’s not a fake e-mail
“Thats me
seriously”
Marine, you needed a haircut!

How about the guy on the right, carrying the PRC-77...is he a poser, too?
You met Obama? You wrote this story? I'm confused...
I was an air winger, and that was 1980 or 81 and that is how long we wore it in Hawaii. :)
I got hurt several years ago
had 2 spinal surgeries, qualified for vocational rehab
going to college full time for electrical engineering
had to take a lit and comp class, seems the english and comp courses I took from 88 to 93 weren’t good enough, so...
Told this story to my professor, she asked for it in short story form
If you’re still awake, I’m still waiting for you to point out the inconsistencies...
“The guy should swear to it on an affidavit”
I have more difficulty with Øbama claiming to be an American.
I stopped right there. BS.
Race Thank you for being a True American Patroit!
I appreciate and respect your service and am sorry for my posting comment.
wanna bet?
Race, Since you been here since Since Aug 8, 1998 I believe you!
I dont doubt people are doubting it, I never went very public with it, I just wasn’t sure, I honestly dont remember the guys name and knowing it was a 30 year old memory, I just didn’t want to speak it
But, this is for a college short story, still in progress
but the facts are true, especially this part
I believe you.
But, most of all Obama believes you.
This is an old story. Saw it about 6 months ago or longer ago.
Doesn’t ring true. Remember Reagan’s admonition: “Trust, but verify”.
should be easy enough to check the liddy part. tom liddy lives in phx and is an attorney.
Every picture I have seen of him does not look so much like him as I remember, but the eyes and his mustache, it had to be
They were SEALS and he was not happy I said what I said :)
But he was polite when I backed off
He used to host a radio show in the drive-time afternoon on KFYI with Austin Hill (who still lives here, but hosts a show in DC and writes for various sites). They were funny together and tried to syndicate their show. I guess they bombed. Heck, I thought they were funny on KFYI and if I’m not mistaken Tom had his dad on once or twice. I think that G. Gordon has a winter house here. (Phx)
I just googled him, it said he (Tom Liddy) was born in 62, that cant be the guy, I was born earlier than that and this guy was older
Might be James Liddy?
You would be correct on that. He had brothers. Tom was in the service also I believe. But if there are doubters to your story, I’m sure Tom would gladly forward you to his brother. You’re right about the age. I thought Tom was a year older making him Obama’s age which would be too young to be a Lt. and a SEAL. Didn’t even think of that. That’s why I’m not a Private EYE.
Well, I was a Cpl at age 20, so this guy being an officer and completed training, he was at least 25, so, I guessed 28
I found James Liddy on the web and sent him an e-mail to see if that is the right Liddy
That ought to take care of any doubters and rekindle some pleasant memories.
Yep. you can recognize a Marine when he’s at the mall in civvies because of the haircut alone!
I’ve lived my whole life in Hawaii (I graduated from the same school Obama did, but a few years earlier; however, I’m no Obama fan).
That landscape photo (obviously a montage) is taken from the Pali Lookout, looking out over Kaneohe. You can see my church directly below the lookout, it’s the large structure in the center of the photo (First Presbyterian). It used to be a golf course clubhouse before we bought and moved into it about 4 years ago (you can see the golf course behind and to the sides of it).
See: http://www.fpchawaii.org/
Only problem is that building and golf course didn’t exist in 1980, when you said you were in Hawaii. It was built in the late Eighties, early Nineties, somewhere thereabouts.*
So if you claim you took that photo when you were in Hawaii in 1980, which seems to be implied by including it with others which supposedly confirm your being there at that time, I call “fake.”
I will agree that the out of focus one could have been taken around 1980, given the shortness of the shorts men were wearing (that was the style—compare Magnum P.I.’s swimsuits). From the foliage, I would guess that photo was taken either at Bellows Air Force Station Beach or Waimanalo Beach Park, although it might have been at Malaekahana.
*This site says it was built in 1991 (Koolau Golf Course). http://www.bestplaceshawaii.com/tips/10_best/golf_courses.html
that photo is from 1999, I took it on a trip from that year
I honestly dont think I have any pics from the Pali from 1980!
I took a ton in 1999
you are right about bellows
