A friend of mine sent me this story of his time in the Marine Corps. Read through to the end, it’s a shocker.
What strikes me most is what he said as to where he grew up: Indonesia. He told me he wanted to be President of the US someday. I remember lightly smiling and commenting that maybe by the time he gets to be 40 or so, America will be ready for a Black man to be President and I wished him luck. We spoke of the racial tensions I saw at home while growing up and I asked him if he ever saw that overseas or since he returned back to Hawaii. I don’t remember his answer, but we spoke more of his time overseas and his thoughts on life and philosophy of government. He made some strange comments to me, it was obvious he never set foot for any time in the continental United States and I told him he better realize that he is making judgments about the United States when he himself never actually lived there. I told him, “Hawaii aint the United States!”
He also told me something that I never forgot, for it caused me to do some other things in an effort to be nice to him and possibly a favor. We spoke of where I had been and the world as I saw it. I told him I had been to Africa , Mombassa specifically, and he said to me abruptly, “I was born there”. I told him he is not eligible to be president if that was true, but I remembered he said his mom was an American, so, maybe it was okay.

Is it any wonder people don’t come forward with information regarding the O? People call them liars, etc. So, why bother? Lack of discernment on this forum? I sometimes cringe reading the replies to some of the threads.
I don’t call BS on anything - I just keep things hidden in my heart and see if anything else comes to light, rather than be too quick to judge.
Prayer is our friend. The Bible says that there isn’t anything done in secret that won’t be brought to light. We need to continue praying these words that God will bring to light all the secrets o and company are trying to keep hidden. God knows all!
RaceBannon, you’re easily one of the most level headed and trustworthy freepers here. The story might be “far out” - but from you - it’s believable. I’ll keep reading the thread to see if there’s more... Thanks for sharing.

Fred - it's not easy - but you're appreciated. People who value truth over "getting along" help keep us free - but they don't win popularity contest. I'm sorry Tom Fife was treated badly... do you have a link to that thread? I remember some of it - but would like to reread it. Thanks.

And boy was that so right, other people, when it is in their favor, are held up and believed, yet anyone else, like me, we are most likely kooks.
I wish me and my friends went back with our photo albums, I would remember more.

As for complaints that no one believes a long time poster here at FR... Actually, it’s not worth the effort.

And I dont blame you, anyways, no one who in power will do anything about it and the story itself sounds incredible, I have to admit, but, Even Barry was a young man once.
All the details fit. I was going to go back to see him again for the reasons I stated in the original letter, I guess that’s why I remember it.
And if I didn’t take a Literature and Comp class this semester, I would have never started to record it.

Thank you both for your comments about your dismay and disgust with some comments on FR.
Some of it, I’m sure, has to do with the disillusionment and cynicism inherent in our current political situation.
Still, it is disheartening to read boneheaded posts. I want to think more highly of FReepers than some comments will allow. Sometimes I shoot back, but more often just close the thread.
All this is to say that I share your disgust, but that it really helps to know that others feel the same way. We are not alone. Most FReepers, I continue to believe, are thoughtful and intelligent Americans — just sometimes quieter than those who annoy us.

Interesting email. I've known people like your friend who should have been in the Air Force. I laughed out loud on that story... Oh - and don't sell yourself short - we've all seen lots of your "good days"...
I dont remember remembering until last fall. Not sure why.
I might have just had it in the background. I don’t remember telling many people at all then, maybe one or two people, it was so long ago I didn’t want to say something that was so incredible and then realize I had it mixed up
but as I laid it out, line by line, that guy I met HAD to be 0bama.
My guess is the REAL trolls on the board are people who make us feel ashamed of being conservative.
I am not mad at detractors on this. I honestly didn’t expect it to be posted here!
But it is a fantastic story, and immediate doubt is called for unless it is someone yo know or heard of.

The guy who lived in Hawaii all his life caught that picture of the Pali lookout from 1999, I only posted it because it is part of the story and how beautiful it looks and all my pics I have from 1980 or 81 are faded shots from a 110 camera. (Remember them?)
