story on a blog that starts off as "A friend of mine sent me this story of his time in the Marine Corps. Read through to the end, its a shocker."
does not seem reliable. That is why I made my skeptical comment.
You say that YOU wrote the story that the blogger posted, that is a little different. You say you wrote it, and you say it is the truth, that is very different than a blogger I am unfamiliar with claiming he got it from a friend.
I think you are a credible person, as you have a long standing reliable reputation here. I wrote my comment before you stepped in and confirmed the story.
There is no limit to the BS on blogs and rumor emails, especially the ones that start off with "I got this the other day from a friend of mine..."
I have no reason to doubt the word of racebannon the long standing FReeper with a solid reputation.
If you had been the person posting the story here and took credit for it, I may have viewed it cautiously and carefully, but not cynically dismissing it with a sarcastic handwave.
