Clarence Page, of The Chicago Tribune, attended Washington’s Gridiron Club and met Tood and Sarah Palin: Palinpalooza goads media into laughter
Palin not only interrupted her book tour, dubbed Palinpalooza by headline writers, to speak to a roomful of those darned media representatives Saturday all gussied up in gowns and tuxedos, but she held her own against this year's Democratic speaker, the liberal master of pithy one-liners, Rep. Barney Frank of MA.
If Palin won the evening -- and even my own Hyde Park-raised, liberal wife believes she did -- it is largely because everyone expected Frank to be funny, which he was. Palin defied expectations. I was so accustomed to her attack-dog role in last year's presidential campaign and the angry spirits of many of her supporters in the tea party wing of her party, that I was surprised to see how cheerfully and gracefully she poked fun at herself without actually being Tina Fey in disguise.
A sampling:
--"It is good to be here and in front of this audience of leading journalists and intellectuals. Or, as I call it, a death panel."
--"To paraphrase John F. Kennedy, this has to be the most extraordinary collection of people who have gathered to viciously attack me since the last corporate gathering at CBS."
--"I've been touring this great, great land of ours over the last few weeks. I have to say, the view is much better from inside the bus, than under it!" etc......
The libs are up to something with the nice things they are saying about Sarah. Didn’t she defend Huckabee yesterday?
Most Palin haters know only what people like Bill Maher and other vile people say and write about her.
Then they see and hear her unfiltered and get the truth, not lies and come away impressed.
Amazing what Liberals think and say. I wonder if this asshat has ever met anyone who went to one of the events. Just wait until the Democrats pass Obamacare or Cap & Trade. I think he will really get a taste of angry spirits.
Nah, she didn’t defend him, she said he made a horrendous decision and that even though she does feel sorry for him, she feels more sorry for those 4 brave police officers who lost their lives. Liberals are not saying nice things about her, its only a few of them who have gotten a chance to meet her and see Sarah for Sarah and they see that they were wrong about her. Many in the media are going to regret treating her like crap. They are only making themselves look stupid by treating her so horribly. Perhaps if they had a chance to meet her, they would see her the way that I see her, as a wonderful human being who just wants what is best for the country she loves so much

Palin already had a big speech during the last GOP convention. Its the best of all 4 candidates running and probably the best since “A Time of Choosing”
Most Liberals get their view of her from other Liberal haters, so they never have seen her unfiltered. The only see the few second clips and then a commentary or a lie of what happened

Somewhere in Alinsky it must talk about how the way to entrap truly good people is by acting good to them. The left thinks everyone's stupid and they alone are brilliant. It's pride. And, after all, Lucifer helped Saul write the book!
Could be their endless attacks have backfired. Her poll numbers have gone up while O’s have gone down. Something is up.
True, but I think this is something else. Both the NY Times book review posted today on FR and this Clarence Page article is say similar "nice" things....
The truth is there giving other libs a waring: "She not to be dismissed, she the real deal, remember Reagan, she got that same thing going ...we dismissed Reagan and he clean our clock...be forewarned...she real"
No accident so many of them all came out at once with fairly nice things to say about her. The word went out from hive central. Wonder what the plan is.
Perhaps, then, they don't want to look stupid. That's a hopeless cause. And they'll be conniving against her the whole time they say anything "nice" about her.
To these people, Ronald Reagan is the devil, and she holds the same convictions he did, and is a -- nay, the -- force in American politics.

Yup. It was full relentless attack. Now the attacks have died down. Maybe if they attack her she will sell more books. The Dem books like Boxer, Jim Wright, McCain’s kid and others are just political payoffs and the books never sell. Total scam. People are buying Sarah’s book in real life.
"The libs are up to something with the nice things they are saying about Sarah." They realize that she is major player on the national level and want to offer her a seat at the table. It's the old "rather have her inside pi$$ing out, than outside pi$$ing in" approach. We'll see how it plays out after the book tour.
Geraldine is a nice,bright lady, but with almost no oomp! Sarah, on the other hand....
