American Idol has been a consistent smash hit on television for the past seven years. First year winner Kelly Clarkson has achieved tremendous success, thus paving the way and legitimizing the competition for all those who would perform after her.
To date, only Carrie Underwood has truly rivaled Kelly Clarkson for the un-offical title: "The Greatest American Idol." Here is a side by side comparison of the two Christian girls from the South whose triumphant success has inspired millions and forever flavored the world of both pop and country music.

I think Carrie has passed Kelly up at this point. Kelly has an amazing voice, no doubt. Probably more talented voice-wise. Carrie has driven to the top of the industry. She is one of the biggest stars in music these days. I would put Daughtry up there, too. All three have had huge commercial success. To bad Adam had to start out the way he did. He really turned off a good part of the audience with that move.

Underwood, and it isn’t even close. I’d likely put Daughtry well above Clarkson, too. Clarkson seems to have been a bit of a one-hit wonder.

I don't think that's true. Underwood has had eight or nine, whereas Abdul has only had four or five. Underwood has also had all three of her studio albums go to #1. I'm not sure if Abdul can say that either.

They were basically even in all things until I was reminded that Kelly made that horrid movie with Justin. I felt that she had to pay for that and so I voted for Carrie.
Some questions can never be answered. How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? Who would win in a fight, hulk or Superman? How many grizzly bears has Sarah Palin personally strangled? Unanswerable!
