Ok, now I have seen hunting dogs track down an animal, but this is the first time I have ever seen a dog catch a fish. And not just any fish, this dog is playing in the water, then he sees a salmon and chases it until he catches it. then he brings it to shore for his owner. Awesome must see video.
Check out the

This really is cool. Anyone with an animal ping list needs to notify your list.

Fun video.
Thanks.

Cool vid!
But heck, bears do it. And AFAIK, dogs are the closest living relatives to bears.
My dog used to LOVE blackberries and would eat them right off the vine. More than once I had to wrassle with him to get a berry vine (thorns and all) out of his mouth he had managed to get jammed up in there.

Too cool OneVike,
I showed this to my 15 month old blond Lab and our 4 month old Australian Sheppard and both simply went in to the pool and yawned.

LOL, I guess they were not given the same kind of humorous funny bone that we received on the day of Creation by God. He gave them to us so that we would smile and laugh, but I guess the humor is lost on them.

I needed that, after this morning's news.
I imagined calling the DNR and asking, "What are the regulations concerning dog-assisted fishing?"

12 years doesn’t seem nearly long enough for a noble creature.

I saw this earlier today. My retriever would have jumped in and found a way to drown himself. Then again, he’d probably be afraid of the fish. He’s afraid of the 6 lb cat...
I own a retriever who thinks he’s a bichon. :P

I’ve seen lots of dogs play this game. Not unusual if you have dogs and live in Alaska by stream or ocean. Besides catching live ones dogs also love to roll in decaying fish, they love the smell and find it hard to resist. The smell is hard to wash off of the dog too.

Our Black Lab (Spook) ate a Salmon from the Klamath River and we had to haul him to the vet miles away. Saved him from that and a couple of days later he had paralysis and I called the vet on our radio phone (1973) and he happened to be in the office on a Sunday. I described the symptoms and he said to look for a Tick in his groin area and sure as hell there it was. I smothered it with Vicks and pulled it out and the next day Spook was ready to fetch sticks. I went looking for another tick.
BEST DAMN DOG I EVER HAD...

Cute video. I had a retriever who "caught" a sunfish while swimming. Quite proud of herself, since it wasn't a frog she didn't eat it. But as soon as she stepped from the water, the fish started flapping and she dropped it in a hurry.

Funny your black lab was named spook. My brother in law (back then) Brent Hand (his sister married Dean Sweet) He had a black lab named boo. LOL I was told that only the dark blood along the back bone is poison to dogs but just to be safe, keep them away from salmon all together. I had a Doberman that ate about six skeins of salmon row I was trying to cure for steelhead bait and he just threw up a couple of times and that was all.
