Now this is way cool. If this video doesn't make you smile and laugh, then your heart just ain't beating properly.
Yellow lab chases down a huge salmon on a river, and catches it
Video unavailable
My doggie LOVES salmon.
They cut off the video just before Fish and Game arrested the owner. /s
semi-floater, but still funny.
That’s a good size fish!
Growing up on a lake I watched my Springer Spaniel spend 3/4 of his life doing that. Never saw him catch anything even once. That never discouraged him.
Hmmm gonna have to check my F&G regs
WOW...that salmon’s almost as big as the dog! LOL
Good job puppy!
Fish and Game Dept wants to know if that Lab had a current fishing license.
At $10.99 a pound for wild salmon, I wish my dogs would do that!
That does it. Get off the bed, you two! Get your lazy canine butts out into the woods and bring back a deer for dinner!
In what state did this happen?
Looks like a chum salmon just returning to spawn, so likely was Washington State.
Had a fish cop been on the scene, the owner would have face some very stiff fines for harashing spawing salmon, illegal fishing and so on.
Goes to show how little respect some people have for salmon.
BTW: later on in the season, the same dog might have biten and esten a carcass, and then died of salmonella poisoning.
More like “in what province did this happen?”
I once saw, on an outdoor fishing show, a black lab catch a small shark in the flats in Key West, Fl. Now that was something to watch.
.
Looks more like a Coho to me.
Accent of cameraman sounds Canuck.
Anyone who does not love retrievers has something wrong with his soul.
IMHO, British Columbia.
Better pull that video down. I am sure dog fishing is illegal and Fish and Game will be along to confiscate everything and put the owner in jail and destroy the dog.
Don’t think so... head was wrong ... and it was smiling - definte chum characteristic.
Lots of canucks in WA.
This is fun, I like the smiling, humor is good.
But; head was too thick, body not thin enough for a spawning chum, no visible developed teeth.
Most importantly, no tiger stripes which most chums develope before they even reach saltwater.
I look at hundreds of salmon in saltwater and thousands in stream, I trust my knowledge on this subject, enough I wish we could make a friendly wager.
Regarding Canucks, yes you are right, lots of Canucks in Wa. There are more of them in BC though.
Seen lots of early entry chums that have not terned yet - indiates either an early arrival or still a long way to go before reaching the spawing grounds - could be Frazer chum which would satisfy the canuck requirement. Only salmon with relatively short runs in the river or hatchery turn before river entry.
Sheesh - in False Pass, AK fisheries the only way to tell a bright coho from a bright chum is tail shape/feel and that chums smile which, when in doubt, is the definative indicator.
I have been awaiting your reply, thanks!
How many Canucks in False Pass?
I will admit, in my fish buying time on the Kuskowim, a fresh chum looked a lot like a coho, but....this is obviously a smaller stream, upriver judging by vegatation, and plus;.......
I can see Coho spots on the back!
;)
Are you a fellow Alaskan FReeper?
“How many Canucks in False Pass?”
Opps, we canned them -— sorry :)
I have no idea.
I figured it out. It must be Texas. Look at the size of that monster! /s LOL
