HATE IS WRONG UNLESS IT IS DIRECTED TOWARDS PEOPLE WITH WHOM WE DISAGREE.

HATE IS WRONG UNLESS IT IS DIRECTED TOWARDS PEOPLE WITH WHOM WE DISAGREE.

By: Andy DeStephano

Why do left wing radicals denounce intolerance unless it’s against something they support? How come it’s acceptable to dehumanize only certain people, beliefs and organizations?

Just recently radio talk show commentator Rush Limbaugh was rushed to the hospital for chest pains. As I searched for news regarding his condition, I was appalled by the comments posted by other readers. The venomous words used to express their distain for his existence were simply horrific. Although disturbed by what I read it certainly comes as no surprise as it seems Conservative bashing has become widely accepted by the Left.

Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman and Ann Coulter are prime examples and targets of liberal attacks; however when Bill O’Rielly commented about Helen Thomas you would have thought he had insulted Mother Theresa. The double standard of what is considered humorous and objective is extremely skewed. In fact, most are just down right mean spirited and foul. In order to be fair and objective, I also take issue when conservatives engage in these practices.

I wish that the very same people that seek to destroy Glenn Beck would have the same passion for destroying Osama Bin Laden. I would like to hear the same people that say Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers are activists agree that Sean Hannity and Mark Levin are commentators not messengers of hate. It would be nice to have these people be as irate when Michelle Malkin is attacked, as they are when Hillary Clinton is criticized. Ultimately I would love to believe the Obama Administration is as passionate about fighting terrorism and enforcing the Patriot Act as they are in eliminating Fox News and supporting the Fairness Doctrine. Once again I must admit none of these will ever happen even though this is change I can believe in.

Hate is a very powerful, very expensive human investment that can and does eventually devour the hater. Hate is something we all ‘’invest’’ in at some point however those who can express it at something truly deserving of it (ex. Nazism, Islamist terror) often find they can ‘’write off’’ that invest,i.e let it go and let goodness(or God) return to their soul and move on with their life in a positive way. Leftists can’t because they understand the value of nothing and so hate becomes a cheap ‘’invest’’. They never let go of it because their hate fortifies them. It consumes their every waking moment and becomes the ‘’reason ‘;d’etere’’, their sole purpose for being. Internally they up end up a a kind of “Golem’’ from “Lord of the Rings’’ because of it.

In a nutshell, America is polarized. Deeply so, almost evenly down the middle (depending on where Independents and swing voters are on the oscillation sequence), when it comes to voting adults. Which does cause some worry due to that verse in the Bible about a house divided not being able to stand ...well, no need to discuss that since I said my post would be in a ‘nutshell.’ Anyways, there is a lot of hate on the Left. Blind rabid dumb hate - however, I’m certain on our side it is not exactly spotless either.

Only white Anglo Saxon conservative capitalistic white men can hate.

Words sounding like hatred from others are simply words born of the frustration from the oppression by the aforementioned group.

You will need to rethink your analysis, I recommend a re-education camp with a properly trained psychiatrist to supervise your rehabilitation.

Welcome to FR.

There is just as much hate on the right.

I don't hate anyone who isn't trying to take away my liberty, or harm my family.

Very few, if any, on the Left can say that.

They have a different value system.
They have a different set of ethics.
They have long ago integrated themselves in the education machine along with most of the media to cultivate these poor ethics and protect themselves from most due criticism.

They are a downgrading of our culture.
They pretty much suck dude!

I have to admit I felt a little bit of glee when Olberman complained of chest pains, but in all honesty, I was also relieved when it was revealed when it was simply a matter of him wearing his bra too tight.

It works. Just look at how the big tent, reach out across the aisle, in the spirit of bipartisanship OP(formerly the GOP) has responded for the past several years.

From an earlier life as a psychology major, hate can be cathartic but the emotion that will eat you away like a cancer is resentment. That one’s the killer.

Drive-Bys Attack Palin Crowds
October 9, 2008

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_100908/content/01125107.guest.html

RUSH: “They are doing their best to impugn you and McCain-Palin supporters like they impugn the US military. They want you portrayed as a bunch of lunatic redneck hicks. Don’t make me go through this again because I’m going to get red faced and livid all over again. They ignore the people in their party that urged the assassination of Bush, via movie and via book, and they critically acclaim both, the movies and the books. These are the people that hang Bush in effigy at anti-war rallies. These are some of the meanest, most vile people in the country, the supporters of the Democrat Party and the Obama ticket. They are deranged, they are unhinged, and they are genuinely dangerous. The media will not talk about that at all. They praise them as being activists and getting involved. “These lunatics are the same people that run these websites, and they are sources for the Associated Press. Make no mistake about it, the enemy in this campaign is not
just Obama and his cronies. The media is as well. If are there outbursts at the media at McCain-Palin rallies it’s because for 15 or 20 years, I traced this back to the budget battle of 1995, and the school lunch program, if you people remember, we were accused of wanting to starve children and our party didn’t say diddly-squat.

“There is just as much hate on the right.”

The Right hates people who are trying to take their freedoms. The Left hates anyone trying to stop them from doing so.

Welcome to FR. There is just as much hate on the right.

What's the color of the sky on your planet, Skippy?

Compare threads on FR concerning Elizabeth Edwards' and Teresa Heinz-Kerry's cancer with DU and KOS threads concerning Dick Cheney's heart condition and Rush Limbaugh's recent illness. FReepers offered prayers and good wishes. What did the "Progressives" offer?

Truth be told, some on FR behaved inappropriately when Ted Kennedy deteriorated and died. Yes, the moderator's were busy. However, what went on at the Lib sites when Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford passed?

Reagan and Ford led honorable lives, while Kennedy was a womanizing scoundrel who literally got a way with second degree murder.

But the real question is, which side spewed more hatred?

Peddle your defense of the fascists somewhere else. Few will buy it here.

Conservative view on legalizing drugs? Conservative view on prostitution? Conservative view on allowing a woman to choose an abortion?

Both sides are willing to take away rights (and rightfully so I might add). I personally think we should have laws, but every law is a taking away of someone else’s right.

Where one falls on which rights to take away puts them on the left or the right.

I think you confuse righteous anger against irrational emotional hatred.

I am angry at those trying to destroy this country in any number of ways. I am angry at evil people doing wicked things and calling it good and trying to force me to call it good or make it illegal to call it bad. Being human I think everyone may have a few people or things (living and non-living) things they “hate” but for the most part, I am angry at those people, but anger isn’t “hate”. Anger at what they are doing. Anger that they’re duped and feel great about being duped.

In the long run hate is unsustainable. Hate doesn’t drive things on and motivate people long term. Hate wears you out. You can’t be happy while hating. It clouds everything. That’s why those on the left are never happy, even when they get what they want. They hate.

Hate has never been a foundation for a sustained movement that has ever succeeded. Righteous anger, however, has. The colonists who desperately tried working with the King for decades before finally declaring independence, didn’t hate their country. They tried many, many times to get their demands recognized and the pressures lifted off them. They didn’t “hate”. They finally had no recourse and believed they were in the right, and were angry at a government who took and took and never listened to them.

So please acknowledge the righteous anger we feel on the right isn’t the same thing as the haters on the left.

Hatred is a good thing. It keeps us fighting against things that are abhorrent.

This new idea of "haters" being bad is just a liberal "argument" against opposition.

By the way...

...you sound more knowledgeable when you write, "Hatred is Wrong..." ("Hatred" has been the most accepted noun while "hate" has usually been a verb.) The melding of ghetto slang into the accepted Standard English can taint otherwise good arguments.

I realize that language is alive, and it--and dictionaries--constantly change; but while there is still a delineation of class in language, it sometimes helps your stance to use the more intellectual choice.

You’ve been on here a decade and you haven’t noticed the hate? The minute you disagree with someone, the response is name calling and ferocious attempts to paint you a certain way. That’s not love my friend, but it is a good time with the back and forth banter.

There are just as many snide remarks on the right when a liberal dies. However if the shoe doesn’t fit you personally, then don’t wear it.

I have some damn good liberal friends and the ones I’m referring to are excellent people. We just have different views on what is best for our country.

A little experiment you can try. Post anything on this site, just one thing that Obama has done correctly. Watch the love responses you get. Either there is a true hatred of the man or he doesn’t have one redeeming quality. Not one? That’s not possible.

“Conservative view on allowing a woman to choose an abortion?

Killing a child is not a choice, it is murder. I guess I could choose to kill you and call it an “abortion” and then you’d be perfectly happy with it, right?

Besides, we were talking about hate and not political ideologies. Can’t stick to the issue, can you?

” but every law is a taking away of someone else’s right.”

Dumbest statement ever! A law that forbids killing another person is taking which right away? Do you even have a clue what a “right” is? Your rights end where someone else’s rights begin. I have the right to life so you don’t have the right to kill me, so how is alaw against murder taking away any right you think you have?
