FWIW, nobody hit the abuse button. Disagree as vehemently as they did, nobody called in the Mods. We think that's pretty cool.

But the kitties are everywhere. Everywhere.

The Founders set up a pretty good framework, but these amendments essentially doomed the Republic by enfranchising the very groups the Founders warned against and setting up a mechanism for redistribution of wealth in return for votes.

Throw in the twenty sixth amendment which enfranchised 18 year olds, and moter voter, and its really no surprise that the US government is now controlled by marxists.

This won't be solved at the ballot box, this Republic will fall, but what will rise from the ashes will be a system where the vote is restricted to tax payers and veterans.

i understand your point on the womens suffrage, however, most states did not allow women to vote. and many would not have changed those laws without constitutional intervention. i wonder why this amendment causes you irritation and not the amendments that allow other ethnic and racial groups a constitutional right to vote? are they not just as progressive and big government as the one for womens suffrage?

I totally agree with repeal of the 16th and 17th. Let us repeal them while we have a majority of RED states and anger against the democrats on our side.

Probably wishful thinking as one half are to scared and the other half want blood.

Actually, while we all like to vilify the 16th, the worst was really the 17th, that removed the representation of the states, as states, in Congress. There would be none of the mischief created by unfunded mandates (which is a major mechanism the left uses for its mischief) if every Senator knew that if he gave his state government grief, he’d be out of a job at the end of his term.

First of all, I personally didn’t write the article, and second of all, as I understood it, most states actually DID allow women to vote prior to ratification of the 19th, and third of all, I’m not opposed to women’s suffrage. I would be content with some way of successfully dragging liberals into the 18th Century (collectivism, I’m sure, is as old as civilization itself) and then, hopefully, into the 21st.

okay. sorry, i misunderstood and thought you were the author. i agree it would be nice to get liberals to think like modern people, or intelligent people, or well hell PEOPLE period. i really do not think it can be done though. perhaps we should give up and just evacuate them all to antarctica?

Since when is 53% a strong majority?

Isn't that the general vote percentage? I'd be interested to know what the women's percentage for 0b0z0 was, compared to the men's percentage, which I suspect favored 0b0z0 as well this time around.

(And I am aware that the women's vote no doubt went for Ronald Reagan in both 80 and 84.)
