BREAKING REPORT: Senator Chris Dodd to Announce Retirement
The Lid/Washington Post ^ | 1/6/10 | The Lid

Posted on 01/05/2010 9:38:39 PM PST by Shellybenoit

Chris Dodd has has a pretty bad 18 months, with each passing day Dodd's hold on the Senate seat he has held for almost 30 years grows more tenuous. As the Chair of the Senate Banking committee he deserves a share of of the blame for the economic mess we are in now, on top of that, are the recent scandals in which he has been involved.

September of 2008 saw the disclosure that the Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee Received TWO VIP Loans from Sub-Prime Lender Countrywide Inc. The Loans were at favorable interest rates. Senator Dodd claimed he didn't know he was receiving a "sweetheart" deal.

In February, we learned of a new "funky" friendship in the life of the Connecticut Senator. At the end of a the Clinton presidency he secured a presidential pardon for Edward R. Downe, convicted of tax and securities fraud eight years before. No one mentioned at the time that Downe and Dodd were partners in a real estate deal, or that a different partner of Downe's William "Bucky" Kessinger, had was involved in another land deal with Dodd. Of course Dodd hadn't revealed that at the time. I guess he didn't have to, since the true ownership wasn't on the deed.

He needs to be investigated, exposed, and prosecuted along with Reid, Pelosi, Boxer, Frank, Rangel, Feinstein, et al.

All these Dems announcing now...interesting. The Party probably thinks they have a better chance with new, fresh faces...but we know who they are.

this is potentially bad news. we had a better chance of beating him in the general than any of the dems that are likely to replace him.

But at least we'll be rid of one more professional crook with loads of experience.

This is actually a horrible development. He is so hated, this was a great pick-up opportunity for the GOP. As it stands, this really increases the Dem chances of keeping the seat. Too bad.

Yes, unfortunately this announcement probably spells out "U.S. Senator Rosa DeLauro" which is not much of an improvement over Chris Dodd.

Rosa is a very conflicted woman. One a Phil Donahue Show many years ago, she was confronted by a very sharp, blunt-speaking pro-life woman. I’ll nevber forget the look on her face; it was venomous.

I agree this will now make it more difficult for a GOP pick-up. if they nationalize the election against the democrat programs we may have a chance.

The Crook Dodd should have been retired a long time ago, and convicted. He’s one of the two A-holes in Congress I hold primarily responsible for wrecking the economy and causing me to lose $50,000 of my retirement savings.

I don’t agree. This Rat reaction is from weakness no matter how the thieves and their big media try to spin it. The momentum is w/ us as these rats bow out one after another; it’s psychological warfare and we’ll make them squirm. They have become so toxic and the anger so pervasive and becoming more and more entrenched that NOTHING will save this thieves in Nov. Americans want checks and balances back; the house is burning and left and right patriots will come together this time just as they did after 9/11. This is not about party politics any longer

Just as petulant children Rats can’t stop themselves; they always end up w/ goo on their own faces.

** Forgive my rant, I am just exploding w/ anger by the behavior of these thugs.

Should not be allowed to retire. Should be tried and imprisoned with the rest of the Democrats. This is insane! These people can NOT get away with what they’ve done!
