Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid privately described then-candidate Barack Obama during the presidential campaign as a black candidate who could be successful thanks in part to his “light-skinned” appearance and speaking patterns "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."

In a stunning and disgusting show of blatant racism, elitist and white supremacist Harry Reid has been exposed in a new blockbuster book. I didn't know people actually spoke this way. But it's hardly surprising: the Democrats were the party of slavery, KKK Exalted cyclops Robert Byrd, and anti-civil rights until they figured out how to make African Americans a permanent underclass. Now comes this gross addition to their legacy.

Reid Apologizes for Racist Remarks on Obama

The top Democrat in the U.S. Senate apologized on Saturday for comments he made about Barack Obama's race during the 2008 presidential bid.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada described then-Sen. Barack Obama as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect." Obama is the nation's first African-American president.

"I deeply regret using such a poor choice of words. I sincerely apologize for offending any and all Americans, especially African-Americans for my improper comments," Reid said in a statement released after the excerpts were reported on the Web site of The Atlantic.

"I was a proud and enthusiastic supporter of Barack Obama during the campaign and have worked as hard as I can to advance President Obama's legislative agenda."

[And for what better reason, Harry, than Barack Obama is "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect?" hat tip df]

And it's not just Reid:

The Atlantic posted excerpts from the book that included a comment Bill Clinton made about Obama to then Sen. Ted Kennedy saying, "A few years ago this guy . . .

Lt Colonel Allen West, great American and candidate for Congress (and my candidate for President 2012) responded here: "Friends, attached is my response to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's comments, which I consider incredibly vile".

"The revelation of Senator Harry Reid's comments referencing "negro talk" is just indicative of the true sentiment elitist liberals, and indeed the Democratic party, have toward black Americans. The history of the Democrat party is one of slavery, secession, segregation, and now socialism. It is this new aged socialism born from the Johnson Great Society programs that have castigated blacks as victims needing government dependency. One need only to look upon the city of Detroit to ascertain what liberal social welfare policies have produced for the inner city.....the new plantation for black Americans. ...

VP Biden's quotes (per CNN on 2/9/2007):

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

Biden issued a statement Wednesday afternoon, saying: "I deeply regret any offense my remark in the New York Observer might have caused anyone. That was not my intent and I expressed that to Sen. Obama."

unless he wanted to have one...says it all, no? I would say Obama has the bigger race issue.

Perfectly said. . .and there is a history to document and just the 'comments' alone; would fill a volume or two.

Another one from Bill Clinton (who could fill his own book with special mention to Hillary for her verbal asides, as well)on 'Drudge':

Bill Clinton on Obama: 'A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee'...

The bigger the log in their eye. . .the worse these people get.

Good read. Also checked out your candidate, Lieutenant Colonel Allen West (US Army, Retired). Reading his about page, he looks quite impressive. http://allenwestforcongress.com/about/

Sounds like the kind of person we need a whole lot of in Washington.

Via Instapundit:

Dan Riehl comments: “Thank God Reid isn’t a Republican, or he’d be being savaged as a racist. We all know that’s not true. They aren’t racists. They simply don’t believe blacks can be successful without being helped by a white person. That isn’t racism, silly. It’s compassion, or so we’re told.”

Regardless of what Reid or Biden said, nearly 100% of blacks would vote for either one of them in their respective states.

The blacks are the poster children for the Dems vision of the country’s future. They are owned by the Dems and the Dems what to force their ownership of us thru their socialist agenda of dependence.
