Here Comes The Mini Ice Age
The Lid/UK Mail ^ | 1/10/10 | The Lid

Back in September a climate Scientist, named Mojib Latif predicted that the earth was facing a mini "ice age," 20-30 years of global cooling. Latif said the cooling would be the result of changes to ocean currents and temperatures in the North Atlantic, a feature known as the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO). Latif also said that the NAO may be partly the cause of warming during the past 30 years (he also said he is not a global warming skeptic).

The prediction of this non-skeptic challenge some of the Church of Global Warming's most holy beliefs, like the claim that the North Pole will be free of ice in summer by 2013, only a bit more than three years from now.

The US National Snow and Ice Data Centre in Colorado, says that Arctic summer sea ice has increased by 409,000 square miles, or 26 per cent, since 2007, and even the most committed global warming moonbats do not dispute this. Ah, it must be a trick, the ice is going to disappear by growing. Just like the cooling is the result of global warming.

The scientists’ predictions about the effects of changes to ocean currents, also undermine the standard climate computer models, which assert that the warming of the Earth since 1900 has been driven solely by man-made greenhouse gas emissions and will continue as long as carbon dioxide levels rise.

No just put...Drag. We need to readjust all the stoplights to go really quick and have drag races between each light. This will burn more fossil fuel and help to warm the Earth back to normal.

I know exactly what will stop an Ice Age in its tracks. At least in some of our minds. Go to the original article.

The mini ice age starts here

Click on the side article about Ashley Greene (warning soft porn body paint). Now she could stop an Ice Age in its tracks.

No more smudgepots. The Manatees are dying off because of Global Freezing caused by the EPA. It is going to be catastrophic unless we get more CO2 in to the atmosphere asap. There is a consensus on this science and there can be no debate allowed. I have in my possession a secret report on it. This report was done by top scientists at area 52. A secret base in Antartica.

Mr Ditter and I are doing our part to prevent the ice age. I drive a Cheve Taho and he drives a Ford F150 p/u. I have a roaring fire in the fireplace right now and in the summer we keep our a/c set for 68. We do a few other unmentionable things too. snort*

At least it would help. Heavy breathing emits more CO2.

Way to go. You might consider lead additives in your gas you can get it at NAPA. Also buy your gas at marinas where you can get gas with no ethanol. Ethanol reduces the CO2 and is contributing to the Global Ice Age. We must all do our part to increase CO2 emmissions.

If it happens, then we need to sue Gore and his supporters for fraud.

I was asking a serious question. Used to go to Florida often, but I’ve not been there in quite a while. Also, I though ice was sprayed over the fruit to prevent freezing. However, I didn’t know a grower couldn’t use smudge pots, let alone someone with a few trees on his property (even though I did know that some residents’ individual trees were cut down—competition to growers, I guess).

Naahhh. No Smudge Pots. They also cut down all the Austrailian Pines that served as windbreaks. Face it. We have let the Government go wild on us. These people are Nuts.

What do they mean by global temperatures anyway? Assuming that the total radiant energy from the sun that is reaching earth is constant, how can air or water currents affect the average temperature? Seems to me that all currents do is move accumulated heat from one part of the earth to another unless these currents can somehow increase the total heat energy retention of the earth under certain circumstances.

Basically, you’re right; we have measurable regional temperatures and unmeasured interpolations — which are then added, averaged, adjusted and extrapolated for projections; and here we are.

Here is an example of how air can affect water temps at the surface. Take a close look at the Gulf of Mexico in the image below. It had been completely warmer then normal at least since summer. Notice how the Arctic air has cooled the Eastern Gulf near Florida and the Western Gulf near Texas. That just happened. Will probably be even cooler in the next days image. Someone posted on another thread how strange the waters off the Western coast of Florida looked yesterday from a jet landing in Florida. Steam was coming off the water. It was dramatically cooling.

Take a look at this animation. Note all the marine layer coming off the water in the Gulf and East coast of the US. That is because the air is much colder then the water. Our oceans are cooling. The sun moved the marine layer further off the coast by heating the air some, but late tonight the marine layer will be all the way to the coasts again.

And concerning the sun being a constant, it is not. Solar Activity varies quite dramatically across numerous vectors. Total Irradiance is not that important since the metric is screwed up by the nature of the sunspots themselves. The spots have a dark region that emits less light and a bright region that emits more light. So their affects on total emitted light are partially canceled. One of the real vectors one must look to see large scale variations is electromagnetic radiation outside the normal visible light spectrum (UV for example). It varies quite a bit. Also, solar wind, magnetic flux and cosmic ray interference are important vectors. And I am sure there are a few more that us apes is clueless about.

CME’s are also important. Coronal Mass Ejections. That mass is traveling at very fast velocities.
