"60 Minutes" Hit Job On Palin Was Truly A Joke

As cynical as I have become about the news media, even I never thought I would see the day where "60 Minutes" provided far more comedy than "Saturday Night Live," but Sunday’s edition of the formerly respected news magazine gave the educated viewer infinitely more laughs than SNL delivered (although Charles Barkley’s pathetic performance may have still somehow been even worse than that of Anderson Cooper).

Specifically I am referring to the segment that was allegedly devoted to the new book “Game Change” about the 2008 Presidential election. Quite simply, (partly because it dealt with subjects about which I have devoted much of the last two years of my life and fortune) this was the worst piece of “journalism” I have ever witnessed on 60 Minutes.

Here are just some of the many outrages in the story that forced those who care about the truth to choose between laughter and tears.

The segment on the book was just under thirteen minutes long. About eleven of those were spent discussing the losing side’s Vice Presidential candidate. About seven minutes were used interviewing the strategist for the losing the campaign and allowing him to take unsubstantiated pot shots at the aforementioned VP candidate. Less than two minutes was used on the current Secretary of State’s bid to be the actual President. Virtually zero seconds were given to the campaign of the current President. Literally zero seconds were devoted to brand new and startling revelations in “Game Change” regarding scandals involving John and Elizabeth Edwards and Harry Reid.

I find it laughable that they are already running against her.

They haven't stopped running against her since she announced she was going to be McCain's VP. If I'm not mistaken, she's the only one they've been running against.

There are at least three things about what Ziegler writes that are emblematic of conservatism and Republican party politics. Things about which I’ve written for the past several years.

First, is that 60 Minutes is not now nor ever has been anything other than a liberal propaganda machine. It was Michael Moore only with polish. The creator of the show indicated his elitism many times in interviews he did about his show on other networks.

Second, Steve Schmidt is a Republican insider. He has been an advisor to many Republican candidates - major candidates such as Bush and Schwarzneggar. This shows what kind of person is in control of the Republican Party. The movers and shakers of the party are not conservative.

Finally - AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - is the fact that Ziegler has spent much effort defending Palin and did not get the recognition he deserves.

I have said this several times during the past several weeks: Conservatives need to patronize and promote conserative journalists and newspapers.

There is more to conservative journalism than Matt Drudge, Hannity, Limbaugh, Fox News and the Wall Street Journal.

Don’t let the other New York conservative newspapers, the Washington Times, the New York conservative fiction publishers, the Hollywood conservative movie makers, conservative TV, conservative music or other conservative newspapers like the Philadelphia Bulletin go out of business.

They need your business to survive. They don’t get government or academia to support them like the liberals do.

Doesn’t Ziegler know how to spell? Rogue and Rouge are two different books.

It was a hit piece, but a significant part of the discussion is very believable.

They chose Sarah; she did not go to them. When she boosted his poll numbers, they were pleasantly surprised. But, when they didn’t listen to her (about going back to Michigan) and McCain messed up himself, they began worrying that she would be the chosen one to run next go round, and they didn’t like that at all. They also realized that if it was a Palin/McCain ticket, she would most likely be our president. And that kills them!

It simply indicates just how scared the Dems and the MSM are of Gov. Palin and her chances in 2012.

Ding ding ding! But what they haven't yet realized is that most thinking people see through the MSM's game (key word: thinking)!

This guy’s article is full of spelling errors. Twice he calls Palin’s book “Going Rouge”. He refers to “Troppergate” and then uses the word “Succession” for “secession”. A little proofreading would help his journalistic image.

The fact that the RNC and Republican candidates use Steve Schmidt, Mike Murphy, Kevin Madden, etc. is all the more reason not to contribute to the GOP. Make political contributions to SarahPAC, Michele Bachmann, Marco Rubio, Jim DeMint, etc.

I started watching it, but I turned the channel when I saw they were mainly focusing on Sarah, and not the Edwards or Hillary.

DING1 DING! DING! WE HAVE A WINNER.

In her book, it tells of when she and the "B Team" went to The Villages, the expected crowd size grew from 8,000 to 10,000 to 30,000 TO 60,000 in a matter of hours, and she was there without McCain.

If you see pictures from that rally, the people were waving signs

"PALIN COUNTRY";

that says it all.
