If anybody has a problem with any blogger links please contact the moderator and let them be the judge of Freeper infractions. But please be mindful of the bloggers who provide timely, beneficial posts which further the conserative cause or benefit the conversation within some of the other catagories. Considering that this is a blogger forum, if it looks like someone has gone to the trouble of locating a good video and/or article with some unique commentary then cut him/her some slack. If its a drive-by blogger then call him on it. We need to encourage excellence in blogging ESPECIALLY amoungst fellow conservatives. Bloggers who work diligently poviding timley, quality information should be rewarded for their efforts and not discouraged. What do you think?
Hear, hear!

I’m a little confused about this “blogger-hatred” - Isn’t the “Bloggers and Personal” section of the site expressly and explicitly designed for bloggers to post? Why would that bother anyone? If I see something I don’t want to read, I just keep going...
It’s in response to the perplexing post: Why do I have to tolerate bloggers?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2425880/posts
As someone who doesn’t blog to speak of, and who certainly doesn’t post it on FR, I still have to ask:
Why don’t you just mind your own business? If you don’t like bloggers, then don’t go to the blogger section. Or if you don’t like a particular blog, then don’t click on its thread? Simply not clicking a mouse button is a lot easier than trying to whip together some half-baked crusade against bloggers who don’t meet your particular standards.
It’s only certain bloggers. They post an article with little or no information about the story and a link to their website.
You have the copyright to what you wrote, so even if it is a "Pimp my blog" post, please post at least a few paragraphs. Don't pretend to be the AP or the Washington Post.
I wish the main news page would identify which forum each article is in.
It would be easier to avoid a potentially interesting (but ultimately disappointing) article if we knew that it was a blogger's article to begin with.
Right now you can't tell which forum it is in until you click on it.
You have it backwards.
iloveamerica1980 likes to posts excerpts of his blog and cause
folks to give him "hits" to read the article. Some folks object to this.
If you wrote it in your blog, you can post it in it's entirety on FR.
This garnering of "hits" is known as blog pimping.
I couldn’t agree with you more! I love bloggers and also am one myself! Again this is in response to the perplexing post: Why do I have to tolerate bloggers?

There’s much more to the story. Did you see that link in post # 4?
What we have here is too many blog pimps posting in News (not bloggers). They post 5-10 words and are only here to call attention to their own blogs.
They have an agenda, and are using Free Republic as a free resource to get more google ad revenue as FReepers click on on their blogs.
These bee-yatches need to be slapped down. They’re getting worse than useless vanities.
It is. What burns me is the 10 word teasers that lead to :
A blog that is amateurish and poorly written
A blog that then links straight to an MSM article.
A blog, with a link and source that reads "Fox", "CNBC" or some other MSM source, but it's actually a blog link (see poster Shellybenoit for examples of that practice.)
There is no reason why they cannot post the whole article.
They get a new story, change the title and repost only you have to go to their site.
You don’t know it’s in Bloggers and Personal until you open the thread. Sure, I do not give them the hit ... but they are wasting my time by my having to open the thread.
They should have to post the whole article on FR. Then let the reader decide if they want to go to their blog.
FR does not allow advertising in taglines. So FR should ban blog pimping IMO.
FR does not allow advertising. Why can bloggers link to their site wherein they essentially advertising their site?
“iloveamerica1980 likes to posts excerpts of his blog and cause folks to give him “hits” to read the article.”
humblegunner, I’m dissapointed in you! Why do you continue to be antagonistic towards fellow conservatives? This section of the forum is for blog/web link posting, unless you can explain what else these are used for:
Source The name of the source (example: The Washington Times)
Source URL A web link to the original article (including blogs)!
Therefore this cannot qaulifiy as blog pimping by definition.
Anyone who uses deceptive headline teases, just a brief and controversial quote, or any other "marketing" technique to intentionally draw traffic away from FR and onto their own blog is a blog pimp and, in the view of many, not at all a good FReeper.
Lots of bloggers post daily with no problems. But there are also an increasing number of bad-faith bloggers pimping for hits. Still, only those with egregious blog pimp behavior - like misleading headlines - get this or any other grief from me.

Are you trying to garner hits? If so, it’s blog pimping.
Why not post the whole article? Or post the original article. Blog pimping is ruining this site.
“are you trying to garner hits”
For the sake of hits.....no! For the sake of timely news and discussion....yes! And may I say that “Dittos Rush” has done this with excellence!
I think much of what is posted from blogs is repetitive and useless. Just today, I see several blog threads that simply blog other blogs.
That way be madness.
Oh, I see. Still, I thought that bloggers were automatically shunted to the Blogger section anywise, and almost by definition couldn’t post in the News/Activism sections or post their stuff up as Breaking News? I know a few times I’ve tried to post articles I’ve found on blogs, and had to put them in the Blogger/Personal section because blogspot/mu.nu/wordpress/whatever was blocked from News/Activism....?
Guy goes into a bar, there's a robot bartender.
The robot says, "What will you have?" The guy says, "Martini." The robot brings back the best martini ever and says to the man, "What's your IQ?" The guy says, "168". The robot then proceeds to talk about physics, space exploration and medical technology.
The guy leaves, but he is curious, so he goes back into the bar. The robot bartender says," What will you have?" The guy says, "Martini". Again, the robot makes a great martini, gives it to the man and says, "What's your IQ?" The guy says, "100." The robot then starts to talk about NASCAR, Budweiser and John Deere tractors.
The guy leaves, but finds it very interesting, so he thinks he will try it one more time. He goes back into the bar. The robot says, "What will you have?" The guy says, "Martini", and the robot brings him another great martini. The robot then says, "What's your IQ?" The guy says, "Uh, about 50." The robot leans in real close and says, "So, you people still happy you voted for Obama?"
FR does not allow advertising! Links to blogs is no more adversiting than links to other websites (like “Hotair” for example) are!
Blog pimps, those who are trying to get hits for their blog and people who take a MSM article and drehash it to their site are a nuisance.
They are ruining the enjoyment of this site.
Down with blog pimping.
If you are really trying to impart information, then post your info to FR. Do not link to your site.
I’ll call you on it. I think you are looking for hits. Right?
Too often they take a MSM article and either re-write and post it with a link to their blog ... or link to their blog with a link to the MSM article.
Either way, it’s blog pimping.
I can see you are among the worst of the blog pimps. There are a handful of you who are abusing the blog feature.
You’re ruining the enjoyment and purpose of this site.
The Blagojevich post was NAT a rehash of other blogs. It was a video link not posted yet!!!!!
“You steal content from other bloggers.”
No sir, I do not. Give me an example of this!
“I can see you are among the worst of the blog pimps. Youre ruining the enjoyment and purpose of this site.”
How so????? Check my previous threads, they speak for themsleves. I’ve had multiple compliments about my content. I take them seriously and am encouraged to do better because of them. So to be called “the worst” is purely venting on your part. Are you a conservative? Do you care about breaking news that affects this nation? Why are you here?
You steal content from other bloggers.
No sir, I do not. Give me an example of this!
______________________________________
Are you here to tell me today’s Blago thread was all original content?
That you didn’t cut/paste from other bloggers and news links?
Like I said. You steal content.
Blog pimping I can stand, but I draw the line at whiney passive agressiveness.
For everyone’s information:
FreeRepublic has many options that allow all users to view specific topic categories the way they want.
For example, if you want to view all categories, link to this page:
http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/*/index
If you, however, dont want to see blogs, chit chat, religion, etc, link to this page:
http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/news-forum/index
If you are only interested in a specific subject, lets say 2nd Amendment Issues, you can also sort just by keywords like this:
http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/banglist/index?tab=articles
The architecture of this site allows for the end user to see the content he wants in the way he wants more than most other forum platforms. This site also has XML feeds on which, you can use various widges around the web to actually feed you information you want. For example, if you want a feed of just breaking news articles, you can link to it using the RSS link at the bottom of the page like this:
http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/breaking-news/feed.rss
You can even use these feeds to display custom content on a mobile device that is formatted best for that device if you like. For example, if you have a Blackberry, you can use this app with the RSS feed of the content you like.
http://www.newsgator.com/Individuals/NewsGatorGo/Default.aspx
Speaking of mobile devices, weve had a lot of reports from members that the architecture of this site allows it to work far better on most mobile devices than other forum platforms.
We have one member who has actually created a desktop AIR application he uses to give him a custom view of the sites content he wants to see using these feeds.
As you can see, you can do a lot with this site and filter what you want. This isnt a one-size fits all site. A little exploring and you can get exactly the content you want delivered to you the way you want.
Get lost, blog pimp. You are not welcome here.
LOL! Looking around I see you are overwhelmingly getting negative feedback about your posting.
Are you a conservative? Why are YOU here?
You’ve been here for a whole 10 weeks and want to tell us how to do things here and what we have to accept?
Yeah, right.
Ping to a freeper reference.
What I really hate is some noob telling me how to conduct myself on this forum, what I should and should not tolerate, and using the word "we" as though I'm somehow connected to you and your thought processes.
What do I think? I think you are a rather self-important control freak with too much time on your hands. If that is not what you wanted to hear, don't ask again.
It was a video link to an MSM report. The link could have been posted. All your blog had was the quote (which was all over FR) and the link to the video.
It is a classic example of a content-free blog posting.
Let’s remember to hit the Freerepublic tip jar:
https://secure.freerepublic.com/donate/donors
I do that for those that deserve the courtesy.
I presume in this case we’d have more luck getting a response if we made a blog entry and posted an excerpt here.
Please send your hundred dollar bills to my bog : www.woofie.com
Agreed.
He rarely appears, even for his own posts.
Thanks for following up for me though. :) I appreciate it.
