I moved from Dallas to San Diego to watch both the Chargers and the Cowboys lose

What a horrible Sunday! A wretched, horrible, day of loss, as I watched my two teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the San Diego Chargers, sadly, tragically, lose to their opponents on what was sure to be a momentous day of double victory!

Oh the day started off okay - with an endless supply of hope and promise because ... both made it into the NFC and AFC playoffs respectively...

Back home in Texas, football games start in the afternoon - but here on the California coast, I discovered the Dallas Cowboys game was going to start at 10 a.m. ... 10 a.m.! You can't go to church on Sunday morning with that kind of schedule.

Needless to say I didn't go to church. I plopped myself in front of the TV around 9:30 and found the right channel so I wouldn't miss a minute of this eagerly anitcipated event. Playing the Vikings in Minnesota meant the 'boys could lose, but 34 to 3?! It was embarrassing, humilitating, sad, and pathetic. The only good part about it was that it was over.

Shortly thereafter the Chargers were playing the New York Jets so I knew at least one of the teams I was rooting for would be making it into the next playoff round. Wrong! 14 -17 Jets over the Chargers - not in the Meadowlands mind you, but right here in San Diego. OUCH!!!

Now that both teams are done for the season, and people are wondering what will happen to Wade Phillips ... and L.T. ... I'm just wondering ...

You Ninny when on a fishing boat in San Diego, you use GMT, which translates to if hand holds beer... drink it. Football times are always ET so 10:15 is really 1:15 eastern and when in Vegas, well we don’t talk about that

My stepson mentioned that but I saw Jones and Barber get some traction later in the game and thought they might be on to something.

Seems the 'delayed' handoffs didn't work, they could have just blasted away like Cowboys of Old and worn the Vikes defense down a bit. Like Emmitt, let the backs find the holes and gaps and turn them loose.

Easy to be a mondaymorning quarterback, but I miss the running plays. Have modern teams rendered the run obsolete? Peterson's every gain came with 3 or 4 Cowboys on his back. If backs can't move the ball, football will lose it's mojo.

L.T. had no business playing this year, only for new records. He was done 2 years ago. He will be gone next year, along with Norv Turner. Wade Phillips will be back. The heat is more on Romo. Funny thing is, I think the 'Boys would have won in Dallas. NO one won in Minnesota's dome this year.

Look on the bright side - You’re in San Diego! You could’ve moved the other way.

I thought they needed to try the fake to Barber and toss to Jones to the side. Maybe a nice crossing route by Austin as a follow-up.

*sigh*

If the Colts defense can get to Sanchez

What if the Jets gets to Manning? They did in their last match. Sean Phillips came within 6 inches of beheading Peyton on a play and Caldwell took him out on the very next series.

I’ve rather shocked myself by cheering for the Jets because I typically do not like NY teams but the bottom-line is I love hard-nosed pound ‘em football. They have a relentless running game and a fierce defense. Didn’t Leonhard lose his helmet twice making hits yesterday?

I’d like to see a hard fought well played game between them and the Colts.

That's gotta suck living on the west coast and having to watch games that early.

Quite the contrary. I lived 34 years on eastern time and I find football on the pacific time zone nirvana. College starting at 9 am, pro at 10am, heck with the beer, wake up and start a game over sausage, eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast is fantastic.

What if the Jets gets to Manning?

Then the results won't look any different than any other Peyton Manning January game. The guy sucks in the playoffs.

Yeah, Jones looked like he was warmed-up after the 2nd quarter. I'm a 49ers fan and would have been really upset if Gore had been denied a chance to carry.

I don't think most defenses can take a continued onslaught (pick a side) by backs with lead blockers the size of Dallas'. But, more importantly, you've got to keep them on the field to tire them out.

Maybe, you go the first half wearing them down, get a few good runs in, and then things open up later for your quarterback. If I see my quarterback getting slammed, I put my fullback in charge and hit 'em with everything I've got.

I probably wouldn't make a very good coach 'cause the minute my QB got slammed, I'd be focused on putting the hurt on everyone from center on out.

As a lineman, I'd be proud to lead block where I knew my back was coming in to finish off whatever stood in the way. And, I'd be up for it as long as it took to wear 'em down. As a coach, I could care if points were on the board compared to the 'substitutions' taking place on the other side. Points are for later.

Basically, my line and my backs would have less than an hour to kick somebody's ass and if we pick your number, so be it. Then, we'd get tricky with receivers.

Sounds like my kind of offense, an “Attack Offense”

Me too ... this could be the knock-down drag out game of the year ... In teh other league, I suspect one of the NFC teams is going to blow the other one out (but Im hoping for a shootout).
