It also doesn’t include those of us that live in states that don’t do background check on purchases by concealed handgun license holders.

I’m in that 14 million several times.

Me, too. My wife bought her first firearm ever.

“Mayor Bloomberg credits New York City’s Crime rate drop on tough gun laws.”
Yeah. Tough gun laws which have no effect whatever on criminals, but are designed to prevent law abiding individuals from owning a firearm. Like all would-be dictators, Bloomberg fears the people, not other thugs.

So less than 1% denials, and how much is this costing us?

Yes, and I was 3 of them. Another one is pending this week as well, as I’ve applied for CCW in a “shall issue” state.

Where’s the corresponding “blood in the streets?”
I thought more guns meant more mayhem.

That doesn’t take into account the number of us who bought guns to try out and then maybe resold them privately to get something else.
Sort of like buying a new car every year you want to get the latest and greatest.
Problem is you end up with all this paperwork that makes the Feds think you have more than you do.

Yes, and I was 3 of them. I too was 3 of them. #1 son gets another one for his birthday next week. A tricked-out M44 with a sporterized stock and a trigger job :-))

Or person-to-person private sales, in some states.
Here in Washington just about any Yayhoo could walk up to me and ask and buy a gun, afaik the only legal requirement on my part is I can’t do the sale if I have any reason to suspect the person would fail a check.
Felon, domestic abuse, dishonorable discharge, mentally unfit, drug abuser, that stuff.

I dug deeper into the stats in the article. Check this out: of the denials since the unconstitutional Brady Law went into effect:
Illegal Unlawful Alien 3,978,988 69.96%
Are you getting this? 70% of the DENIALS under the Brady Law are due to ILLEGAL ALIENS! If we had any actual border control, 70% of the denials would go away.

That also doesn’t take into account the number of Localities where you can use a CCW permit in lieu of a NICS check to purchase a gun, just sayin.
