Sometime between 7 and 7:30, not long after I got home from work, I walked to the CVS on 22nd and M to get some bread, milk, and a SmartTrip card. I was right across the street from the CVS, and I waited for the crosswalk light to tell me to go before I crossed. I had plenty of time left, according to the countdown clock. I was more than halfway there when a black SUV made an illegal left turn and hit me head-on. I absolutely had the right of way. I yelled something like, “Are you really doing this?” as it hit me before I could move. I landed on my face on the street and smashed my glasses and scraped my hand and immediately I knew something was wrong with my left knee. I lay there screaming and cursing for I don’t know how long, and a crowd of people gathered and told me to hold still. I was sprawled out right next to the yellow line as traffic went by.

One last thing: I’m told by multiple people that the SUV that hit me was Secret Service. If this is true, I want to know why that happened. I was crossing legally, and they just left me there. At the very least, I want an apology. What happened to me was wrong.

The Secret Service doesn’t play games like this. They don’t get into the political fray. IF it was some political hack instead of a politician, I would bet an intern.

Treacher is a conservative blogger with a sharp sense of humor. Just google his name and you will find the sites he's on and his posts.
Realistically, I'm with mnehring on this, I doubt the Secret Service was the hit and run driver. I bet it was just some guy in a black SUV that hit him. But why let that spoil a good tin foil session?

The Secret Service doesn’t change with administrations like cabinet officials. I know many of them and they remain as a-political as possible, even in their private lives. These are people who would stand in front of a bullet to save the life of another without second though and they deserve respect, not to be the butt of conspiracies and paranoia.

He should have someone go back to the location and see if there are any security cameras. If so, he should get copies of the tapes, hiring an attorney if necessary. You do not want to get into a he said, she said fight with law enforcement.

Interestingly enough, faq just mentioned that Treacher tweeted that the Police and the Secret Service have confirmed he was hit by the Secret Service. I wonder if those vehicles have dash cams?...

The driver apparently perjured himself by claiming that Treacher was jaywalking and that the accident occurred several blocks away in the middle of a street. (Treacher was issued a jaywalking ticket at his hospital bed on the driver's complaint).
The ambulance report and that of eyewitnesses contradicts the driver's claims. There is probably a security camera video of the incident as well.
I wonder why the State Department is trying to back the account of the SUV driver.
Yes I take my daughter for a walk on sungays until I find my car.
