The National Portrait Gallery ... Size Matters?

It seems that sizes really does matter when it comes to the Portraits of the Presidents exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery. If you are a Democrat president like, say, Clinton, Carter, or Kennedy, then you are fortunate to have an oversized portrait that is floor to ceiling and hung on its very own wall. But if you are a Republican president, like, say Bush, Reagan, or Nixon, then you unfortunately have, at most, a standard sized portrait that likely shares wall space with another president. See for yourself at http://mmxflex.blogspot.com/2010/02/national-portr ait-gallery-size-matters_08.html.

sweet girls always say size doesn’t matter since they don’t like to hurt a man’s feelings about something he can’t do anything about

i’m not sure i believe them....at least not the reporters who were giggling over Obama on that plane that time

I guess they have to compensate for other things.

Not surprised Clinton's picture is giant sized.

The best portrait ever is of a REPUBLICAN - except of course for the founding fathers pictures, like Washington crossing the delaware. (a personal favorite)

I can think of other leaders who have thought highly of themselves and liked to be portrayed in larger than life,Mussolini,Stalin,Chavaz,Hitler,Mao,Lenin, guess i’m not making much of a point here considering.

I think it’s called “subconscious compensation for the lack, thereof.”

The painting of Clinton is terrible, the one of Kennedy looks like it was done by grade schoolers (children of his mistresses perhaps?) and the one of Carter is rather large and impressive, which is a brilliant contrast to his small and weak presidency.

I think I've figured this out, and if I'm right than the situation is pretty insidious.

It looks to me like the Reagan, Bush41 and Bush 43 are the offical portraits from the White House. Note also that they're all about the same size and have the same framing.

If true, this means that the portraits have been removed from display at the White House. Orwellian "unperson" campaign by Obama?

The ones of Clinton and Carter are not the official ones. I don't think that the Nixon one is either and I'm sure that Ike's isn't since it is of him in uniform.
