Maybe. US Capitalism and the Justice system hadn't treated working class black people fairly up to that point. You could not get a job based on qualifications. Skin color came first. You could be run out of town by the sheriff for no reason but some white person's complaint. If you lived in such a world where your freedom and personal liberty were so severely curtailed, would you support it's institutions of "freedom and liberty". Obviously not.

It was a different era, people.

So basically, you’re saying that all of our ancestors were evil, and the fruits of their labor was evil.

You sure you’re a “conservative?” What exactly are you trying to conserve?

Please, keep telling me how evil my grandparents were. It is really effectual.

Using your version of history, who would oppose the “progressive” movement? Only racists, right? Oops, you really didn’t think this through very well did you, troll?

I should have put this in my other post to you...but everything you say can be shut down with a few simple words...

Ok...we did all that. Who did better?

Who did better? What other nation decided to enact quotas for the minority? Who did better?

You look pretty stupid bleating about us not meeting a standard that no one else has met.

However most did and supported civil rights laws, fought court battles to be treated impartially under the law and demanded the enforcement of the existing laws. Yeah, it was a different era.
