Medina Not The Same Old Brand of "Politics As Usual"
TheCypressTimes.com ^ | 02/15/2010 | John G. Winder

Posted on 02/15/2010 3:50:42 PM PST by Patriot1259

Perry seems to rely on two familiar slogans:

“Keep D.C. out of Texas,” which is his push-back to Kay Bailey Hutchison who, for all intents and purposes, cut her own throat with conservatives when she voted “Yes” for the federal bailout in 2008; and

“Texas – We’re better off than the other states.” I’ve never heard Medina deny that Texas is better off than the other states. She does say; however, that Texas could be doing better. You could be doing better.

Medina wants to get rid of the state property tax. Any objections? She wants to replace it with a sales tax. Sorry, that can’t work. It’s too logical. It’s too easy. It gets rid of way, way, way too much government fat and it too fairly and equally distributes the load in terms of supporting the state.

Absolutely get rid of the property tax. It defies our basic concept of personal property and liberty.

Medina won both debates. She isn't a nut.

The Ron Paul/Medina mob kept barraging Beck with phone calls to have Medina on until he did. He had many calls from viewers asking him to ask her if she was a 'truther'. He did. Now, they are blaming Beck and Perry for 'sand-bagging' her.

I don't believe for a minute that she was 'set up'- but what if she was? At least we got a deal-breaker bit of info that could save us from disaster. Putting up 'truther' Medina against the Democratic candidate would be suicide.

“That's not the question I heard,” Medina said. She said she thought he was asking about whether citizens should question their government. SAY WHAT?? How plain did Beck have to make it? It was a simple question; do you or do you not believe our government was responsible for 9/11?? All she had to do- as any rational, sane person would do- is answer a simple 'no'.

This idea that Beck (or anybody else) sabotaged Medina is absurd. If you can’t answer “did the govt have anything to do with the 9/11 attacks?” you're not be fit to run for dogcatcher.

For God's sake, have any of you really looked into her platform- her background? Has this woman even been vetted?

She wants legalized drugs.

She backs gay marriage.

She is for abortion

She has not spoken to her elderly parents for YEARS. They had to find out she was runing for governor of Texas by reading the newspaper!

http://www.statesman.com/news/texas-politics/medina-hailing-from-beeville-learned-political-skills-on-229907.html?srcTrk=RTR_95609 What does this say about this woman's character? And rumors are begin to surface about husband Noe's past associations.

Take a look at some of the statements she has made: "It’s a shame isn’t it, that Republicans continue to ignore Hispanics especially here in Texas?’

"Who is going to think more about Latino families? Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison or me, who has a Latino family?”

"Being married, however, to someone with a Mexican American heritage, I certainly embrace the culture.”

"I believe we too often get into race when it’s immaterial.” (Obummer, is that you?)

I don't believe for one minute Medina's propaganda about wanting to strengthen the border! La Raza probably has her in their back pocket!

Glenn Beck has once again helped the tea-party stay in the Republican mainstreamby by weeding out dangerous fringe thinkers like Medina.

Medina is NOT representative of the Tea Party movement. She USED them- latched herself on to them. She’s a hard core Libertarian who has realized that the Libertarian Party will never win anything and that the only possible way to get herself into office is to do what Ron Paul did and wrap herself in the Republican cloak in hopes that it will fool enough of the voters enough of the time. Thank God Glen Beck outed her in time.

Retrieve your sombrero from the ring and go home Medina. You're Texas toast.

Gawd, you people never stop with the Perry propaganda. She isn't PRO-drugs. If you actually watched the debates and listened to her direct comments, you'd know that.

From her website:

"Debra on Life

Pro-Life Period

Life begins at conception and concludes at natural death.

Every human is created in the image of God. God, not man, is the measure of all things. Every human life is precious and I will work to protect innocent human life."

She gives credence to the rants of anti-American propagandists (truthers). She’s the anti-American equivalent of someone who’s undecided on whether the Holocaust occurred because of “questions” raised by Holocaust deniers.

That’s a dealbreaker ... her positions on taxes, drugs, abortion, gay marriage, etc. are irrelevant. To my mind, her candidacy no longer exists.

Its Perry or Hutchinson. I will never cast a vote for Debra Medina (even if she were to win the primary).

Medina won both debates. She isn't a nut.

She is an admitted truther. She is a nut. The correct answer would have been the "Gorelick Wall". Further, the appointment of Gorelick to the 9/11 commission was proof of a cynical coverup of criminal negligence and failed Democratic policies. Those would have been the correct answers. Her failure to understand or know this is proof that she is not suitable for office.

Medina supporters from all across the land should have a pilgrimage to Wharton. They should build a giant monument, a monolith, and call it the Non-Nut Shrine, and light candles, and hold hands, and lift up their voices singing in unison, while walking around the huge monolith in a giant circle. Singing, she is not a nut, she is the one. And scribe tattoos on each other, illustrating she is not a nut. And fast for days, meditate, do yoga, and stare at pointy crystals.

I’m just saying.

The false anti-Medina spamming that she pro-illegal immigration, pro-drugs, pro-abortion is Perry campaign propaganda. None are true, yet it keeps getting spammed here.

Do I think she is a truther? I don't and explained here why I think she hedged on the question. She has a base of supporters who are. Is that good? No. Did it hurt my perception of her? Yes. Do I agree that she is a certified nut? No. Do I think the false spamming should go unanswered? No.

FWIW, I've spoken to several people who think her comments were no big deal and that Glenn Beck was wrong, same with local radio. She clarified her comments, and needs to do it again IMO. Politically, her only way out is to focus on the redacted portions of the 9/11 Commission Report and intelligence failures.

Discover fire, and leap naked through the flames. While playing flutes and bongo drums. Burning incense and herbs would be the order of the day. Sacrificing goats and chickens to the great Non-Nut monolith.

Until the County Sheriff showed up and put a screaching frikkin halt to the nut worship. With pepper gas and tasers.

Again, just saying.

Sure, collect sales tax to go to Austin and divied up by Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and El Paso Reps. Talk about Robin Hood - instead of our school taxes and county and city service tax moneys being collected locally and staying local, the State will collect, decide whether our little city needs a new road, a couple of sheriffs’ deputy’s, or a new school building.

If you want to pay less taxes, tell your County Commissioners, your school board. Try telling the Dem Rep from Houston or Dallas that you want less taxes.

I have better luck with my city council and school board than I do with Houston State Reps. Flip, I have trouble with my State Senator, because his loyalty goes to Bexar Co.

And he's complaining that the Tea Parties are being infiltrated by "neocons" like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin. Nevermind that Palin endorsed his son.

Paul cautions neocon influence infiltrating tea parties

"My message is somewhat different," he said. "The message gets somewhat diluted" with large movements of this nature.

"Everybody likes to join what looks like a popular movement, then they want to come in and influence that movement," Paul continued.

Where’s the testimony at the State House or Senate to get any bill passed? Show me evidence that Medina has the least notion about how to move a bill through the Texas legislature. When has she walked the halls of the Capitol or stood for hours in the lobby of the House to talk to a coalition of legislators, when has she sat up all night waiting for her chance to testify? What lobbying efforts has she supported with her time and money? When did she ever join with us Freepers on the South porch to protest the latest twitty move of the Dems?
