Briton Who Cut Off Burglar's Ear With Samurai Sword Is Acquitted

An Englishman who almost sliced off the ear of a home invader with an ornamental samurai sword has been acquitted of all charges after a trial. He was found not guilty of unlawful wounding. The home invader had threatened to rape his wife and kill his teenage children. He used the sword because it was the only weapon he could find.

You may recall that a New Jersey college student recently killed a burglar legally with a samurai sword.

The Englishman told authorities that if the first thing he had found to defend his family had been an umbrella, he would have hit the man with that.

Prosecutors who filed charges under the oppressive British self defense laws believed that 47 year old David Fullard’s self defense actions were “over the top.” Prosecutors said that it was disproportionate to attack the thug with a “battlefield weapon” when the home invader was only armed with brass knuckles.

22 year old Michael Severs and 19 year old Michael Smith were...

They had a trial over this? Absurd and immoral.

Th UK is a sick, sick country.

You cannot defend yourself either in your home or from their crazy Libel laws.

London is a “Turd World” toilet, in my last unpleasant visit there.

when the home invader was only armed with brass knuckles.

I invite any prosecutor to allow me to strike them just once in the face while "only armed with brass knuckles". Their successor may decide whether to charge me with reckless homicide or voluntary manslaughter.

It would seem the UK laws exist to protect the criminals.

"Don’t bring brass knuckles to a sword fight..."

The weapons designers of WWI prepared one for either contingency :-)

Mr. Fullard was expected to have his own brass knuckles so he could fight fair! It would be funny as a movie plot but in real life it is insane.

Agreed... but at least this time, the person who stood his ground was acquitted. I've gotta say, that was not what I expected to read.

It was two young thugs against one middle-aged homeowner. A sword made the fight barely equal. This is the most disgusting part:
Under British law the two home invaders were given a slap on the wrist. They received suspended sentences and 100 hours of community service work. Severs had to have his ear reattached.

The best part was AFTER the Samurai Delicatessen skit, when Chevy Chase on “Weekend Update” went off!!!

“Just moments ago a drug crazed and incoherent John Belushi injured character actor Buck Henry by wildly flailing a samurai sword” or some such.

Buck wore a bandage on his forehead for the rest of the show.

Nanny states want YOU to be dependent upon the government for everything, including domestic defense of ones own property.

If people can do things on their own, then what NEED is there for the government and what use are those who make up the government?

"The home invader had threatened to rape his wife and kill his teenage children."

"Prosecutors said that it was disproportionate to attack the thug with a “battlefield weapon” when the home invader was only armed with brass knuckles."

The invaders (more than one), invaded his home... his HOME, threatened to RAPE his WIFE, and KILL his CHILDREN, and defending them with a ornamental sword is "over the top". This man that defended his family was charged with a crime, and tried in court like a criminal. I think I despise the UK criminal justice system more than I despise these thugs that attacked this mans family.

I am shocked ... SHOCKED that there are no references or gif's regarding the HIGHLANDER on this thread. I'd post but I'm html challenged.... I think the appropriate response to the intruder would be In the end ... THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.... before hacking the guys head clean off his torso, with a single swipe of the Cold Steel Katana.
