You cannot defend yourself either in your home or from their crazy Libel laws.Exactly. Since they've been neutering the penalty for murder (no death penalty over there any more) while escalating the risk for defending yourself, the SSS rule should be making a comeback soon. Unintended consequences. They're a bitch.

Briton Who Cut Off Burglar's Ear With Samurai Sword Is Acquitted "Excuse me, but do you have any weapon more dangerous than those brass knuckles? If you have a firearm, what caliber? I would feel awkward shooting you with a .45 if you only have a 9mm. We must be fair, you know, Marquess of Queensberry rules you know."
No, thank you. I'll stick with the sword - and aim for the throat next time.

When you hack with the katana, especially if you’re cleaving the guy’s head, make sure to pull your swing at the last instant, or you risk getting your sword caught in his skull. If there’s other bad guys on the scene, you’re screwed.

I love how the state has disarmed the British home, but still feels free to grouse in court if their arsenal of defensive weapons lacks something of exactly the approved degree of lethality.

Hmmmmm Isn't that why the Samurai always carried a secondary shorter sword (spelled with a "w?") or knife as well? I mean besides the whole Hara Kiri thing if disgraced.... Also I would think appropriate follow thru with the stroke would tend to carry the blade out of the body, especially if the angles are correct. Step clear of the spatter or shower depending on arterial spray.... I'll have to ask my Sensei tonight about that. We'll be working with Bokken in my Aikido class.

Probably, but better not to have to take a second or two to switch weapons at the wrong time. Probably better to just whack the guy’s head off at the neck.

Probably better to just whack the guys head off at the neck.Agreed! In true Highlander style! I've read that in ancient Japan the swords were tested for sharpness by their ability to cleave through the neck of an OX at the base in a single stroke. That is sharp.

This is so stupid. A legal system that works backwards...this gent who protected his family and property was guilty until proven innocent.
