A Vast Confederacy of Fools... (Which I knew who wrote this)
Western Hero ^ | 27 Feb 10 | silverfiddle

Great quote. Too bad we don't know who wrote it....

The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency.

It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president.

The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us.

Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

The MSM should take the lion’s share of the blame for our current leadership crisis. Obama is, after all, a creature of the media.

If it were up to me I would storm the TV and paper offices, drag the leaders out, and tar and feather them.

Yeah, whatever happened to the hard-bitten, skeptical journalists who grilled every politico, regardless of party?

Now, the press acts as Obama’s Praetorian Guard for crying out loud...

The current “confederacy of fools” may cause an entirely different type of Confederacy to form.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency."

Worse yet, is that Americans are watching the devastation of our country & allowing this community organizer to continue to dismantle it day by day!!

I agree with you. The media was key to foisting this POS on the US. Without their bias we would know who this guy is. In days past, the media searched out the truth and told the citizens. Today they hide the truth and fool the people. They are guilty of treason and should be dealt with harshly.

You should not have the franchise unless you have risked your life serving the polity you wish to join. The Military, Cops, Firefighters, etc.

And I do not mean Peace Corps / NGO types.

more that once I have posted that the Tea Parties and Pro-Abortion people march in the **WRONG** place!

They should march in New York City right on the doorsteps of the main stream media.

When the Iron Curtain fell, the first places secured were the TV and radio stations. There is a lesson to be learned in that.

Ship of fools voted in Obama
Reader Input

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency.

The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely an inexperienced, naive fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

Mike Michaelsen, Auburn” It’s dated Jan. 14, 2010 The Auburn Journa/Lincoln Messenger

Many of us feel this way, and have felt this exact way for a long time. The philosophy can be found in the original Star Wars movie (of all things), when Han Solo and Obi Wan Kenobi are hiding in the hold of the spaceship.

Kenobi says something - I forget what - and Han replies, “Damn fool! I knew you were going to say that.” To which Kenobi replies, “Who’s the more foolish? The fool, or the fool who follows him?”

The question now is, do you “get it”? People are still focusing on calling Obama names, when they need to challenge the people who voted for him. The republic could be divested of Obama tomorrow. By an act of God or an act of Congress or an act of a madman. But who would replace him? Someone equally reprehensible. We’re not going to be saved overnight. A whole generation of “fools” stands ready to replace Obama, should they be called upon to do so.

In truth, Obama is no “fool”, although those who follow him may be. He knows what he’s doing and so do they. If anyone has been foolish, we have, for burying our heads in the sand and allowing our country to be pulled out from under us.

Even now, we’re allowing ourselves to be co-opted. We pay too much heed to media criticism and shrink from the public square where we can be seen and heard for fear of being made to look foolish.

We haven’t followed through with the original program of public rallies. Instead, we’re hiding in semi-private gatherings, meeting indoors in VFW Hall and Mason’s Lodges, where we only hear ourselves speaking. We’re glad to be among our own kind. We feel “safe”.

A larger world, though, is now confirmed in its opinion, by our own timidity, that we are a minority of extremists. We’ve mistaken flight for fight. We’ve censured ourselves in topics. Those with a passion for social issues, such as opposition to abortion or gay marriage, have been marginalized, silenced.

Those who profess a faith in God are shunted off to a corner for fear of offending supporters in what we deem to be the center of our battle - the economy.

To be sure, the economy is in a frightful condition. But so is our national soul. It quivers on the very brink: fearing God and fearing to invoke His name. The Creator of the Universe, from having once been the center of our patriotic fervor, has been all but banned from our discourse.

Without God, we’re nothing. He would not have us judge others, not even homosexuals. But neither would He want us to worship a state that mandates His shepherds lay unction upon unconventional practices against His laws and their consciences.

That’s the problem with gay marriage and abortion. Even if we don’t wish to be judgmental, truth will be buried if we look the other way and silence the debate on social issues. Our society will disintegrate into a selfish debauchery, our nation into a totalitarian welfare state.

So, let us bid our young not to be foolish in their electoral selections. Let us bid our friends and neighbors not to vote for fools. And let us never again be fooled into believing silence is golden.

Belle
