The top spot may temporarily go to Rep. Sander Levin, D-Mich., according to leadership sources, or to Rep. Pete Stark of California, the committee's second-ranking Democrat.

The problem is it didn't seem as if anyone told Charlie. About ten minutes after the initial reports this popped up on Rick Klein's twitter

I will believe it when I hear the Congressional Black Caucus complaining that he was removed because of racism.

Charlie Criminal’s a member of powerful sub-collectives in the ‘Rat Crime Syndicate Org. Until THEY walk him down the steps, he’s not stepping anywhere.

One honest man does not make a Caucus. Maxine Waters runs things there, we will see what she has to say.

This is typical of the Chicago crowd. They force Rangel to either accept the resignation or announce that he isn’t stepping down — making him look bad.

I can’t wait until he leaves office, the white-hot hatred of Obama must be palpable among the Democrat political class.

"Davis went on to say that he 'will consider returning the $1,000 contribution he made to my 2008 re-election campaign.' "

Uh huh. Words matter,

I like how when a corrupt RAT congressman finally decides to step aside, NBC news gets the exclusive story...Just lucky I guess.

Jim Traficant spent years in the slammer for much much much less than this clown has done.

I guess there’s a double standard?

Actually response from the Caucus has been funny.

Here is some of it good for a laugh
Rep. Artur Davis (D-AL) Tuesday became the first member of the Congressional Black Caucus to demand that Rangel resign as Ways and Means chairman.

Davis is the first and only CBC member to call for Rangel’s ouster.Davis is running for governor of Alabama and is not standing for re-election to the House this fall.

“Our caucus is just like any other caucus,” said CBC member Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA). “We don’t have 42 members in lockstep.”

“I think Mr. Davis ought to step aside,” sneered CBC member Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL). “He ain’t here much. And if he’s speaking for anyone black, he ain’t speaking for me.”

Reporters Tuesday asked House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) if he thought Rangel could survive a vote of no confidence.

“I think he could,” Hoyer said.

Doesnt sound to me like Rangel is going anywhere.

If I were in the Republican leadership, I would recommend my members abstain from any vote.

My reasons: 1. Avoid charges of racism from the Democrats. 2. Force Democrats to confirm that they tolerate, if not enable, corruption.
