Twenty Years of Photoshop: What's Real and What's Not?
PAjamas Media ^ | March 6 | Scott Budman

Thanks to Adobe and the four employees who created the piece of software, we are able to become digital artists in almost no time flat; because of this amazing democratization of technology, though, almost nothing we see on the internet is trustworthy. From a skinnier Kardashian to a prescient preview of what Brett Favre would look like in a Viking uniform, anything’s possible....

Naw. It was in my backyard. All done with miniatures. Not bad for ‘69, eh?

I still wonder if there was a photograph of little boy Clinton shaking hands with JFK. Maybe he met him. Maybe he was there. But did someone take a picture? I don’t think so. That was probably photoshopped to give the impression that JFK was endorsing little Billy.

“From a skinnier Kardashian...”

Why on earth would that be necessary? She looks just fine.

I “photoshopped” that application into what it appears to have become about 20 years ago. It was so easy with some simple vi macros.

I’ve been using Photoshop for about 12 years and consider it the most powerful piece of software ever created. I’m pretty literate when it comes to Photoshop and yet I realize that I probably only understand or use about 10% of it. Kudos to Adobe. It really is the best there is.

I took a college extension course in the CS3 basics just to get started but there are thousands of tutorials out there for free online and they’re just as good.

For most people, the free open source program “Gimp” has more photo-editing capabilities than they will ever need.

You’ll never understand all of Photoshop. I’ve been using it for about 15 years, some of that professionally. Any time I get within maybe 50% they come out with a new version, more features. I stopped a few versions ago because honestly, it already did far more than what I needed.
