The danger is far deeper than simply Obama...

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails them.

Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

This is why we need a full four years of Obama’s epic failures. I don’t want this usurper impeached. I want him to fail in a spectacular manner, daily. Otherwise, the greedy and the stupid will fall for the next anti-American socialist who promises to play Santa Claus with other people’s money.

Between the explosive growth of illegal immigrants, and blacks, the USA has become a victim of “The Peter Principle”. I do not see it ever returning to be the country that I grew up in.

I totally agree. The demographic trends are strongly against a future strong, united America. Don't forget the muslims, too. Despite the fact they're only 1.5-2% of the population at present, they breed like rabbits and will explode their population, especially in enclaves like MI and northern VA. Their political power is only going to grow.

America has a history of recovering from socialism.

I'm sorry, I may be suffering from a poor memory and/or am ignorant of some significant event(s) in US History -- what are you referring to here?

From my perspective, I see what is happening now as just the most current incarnation of the slow boiling kettle of socialism that was put on the burner by FDR decades ago. It has been heating up, sometimes rapidly when the fire has been turned up, and sometimes more slowly when the burner is turned back down to simmer for a while, since then. And the point that we are at now is a direct result of all of the infiltration and brainwashing that has gone on for decades, all carefully and patiently plotted out. Usually I am an optimistic person by nature, however I don't see how the tides can be turned at this point -- the majority of people in our country have been so thoroughly indoctrinated that they can't even understand that there are so many un-Constitutional problems contained in this health control legislation that they can't even be counted at this point.

How have we ever recovered from socialism? What am I missing here?

(And I am not being sarcastic or facetious, I really hope that someone can show me how we can possibly turn this decades long disaster around.)

what are you referring to here?

Perhaps your explanation is correct. What I refer to is the shift from the socialistic policies from the 1930s to the conservative policies of the 1950s. I also refer to the Carter Catastrophe of the 1970s and the turnaround of the 1980s. Significant economic strangleholds and to a lesser extent freedom infringements were undone.

You are correct. Many people are not as astute as you to see the un-Constitutional problems contained not only in health care, but in many of the proposed legislation in the pipeline. The economy will drive most people's ideology -- not theory, unfortunately. The implication is that to turn things around, the economy will have to get worse.

mlocher,

Thank you for your reply, I understand what you are referring to. I think it is a case where both perspectives are right. You have pointed out 2 smaller cycles in which leftist-socialist agendas have been beaten back -- I am grateful for the reminder. But yes, the large "wheel" has been spinning since FDR, and the latest monstrosity of health control will dwarf the rest of those programs in both destructive economic force and loss of Liberty and Freedom.

Many people are not as astute...

Not to quibble on word choice or semantics, but I want to make sure that my point is understood here. When I see the word "astute" I usually think that it means being better educated and/or having a higher degree of education and/or sophistication. I'm not sure if that is how you were using that word or not. To me I see the cause more as the result of brainwashing and indoctrination, over decades, for younger citizens it has begun at birth.

The news and airwaves are filled with "astute" (meaning that they are well educated, highly intelligent, and "sophisticated") people telling the masses how wonderful Obamacare will be and how the best of what is American is about how we take care of our "poor." (Of course one could argue that if they were indeed "educated" properly, they would have been well grounded in the history of our nation's founding and the core principles reflected in our founding documents, and how this unique combination of thought and action formed the most successful form of government that mankind has ever witnessed. But that hasn't been the case for decades.)

Sorry to ramble on about that!

I understand your point about the negative economy being able to catch the attention of the masses. However I am very concerned that the provisions in health control are crippling to the point of pushing our country over the edge. I hope that I am very wrong about that.

I understand your point. By astute, I meant that you are able to effectively start with a set of axioms (truths) that define a system and logically step through the what happens to that system when the system input is modified. You are telling me that many other people do not understand the axioms because of brainwashing, etc. You probably are better educated than most, but you also are more "down to earth" than most and know how to properly apply knowledge. I in no way meant to imply that you were elite or used your knowledge innapropriately. Your gift, by the way, is wisdom!

Obamacare will negatively impact the economy. Unfortunately, it may not be immediate, and when the economy does get worse, there will be some Keynsian economist telling it is because of some reason other than gov't intervention. It will take patience and good communication to connect the dots between Obamacare and a poor economy.

Hahaha, your response made me chuckle a bit, which is a lot closer to a laugh than I've been for quite some time. The reason being, I don't consider myself "astute" at all. I actually consider myself fortunate in two regards. One, since I am in my 50s, I was fortunate to attend grammar school (private Catholic) before education was decimated and destroyed in our country. Even though I look back with a bit of regret since I didn't embrace the value of what was being taught then in the areas of history and social studies (truth be told I often thought it was boring and did a lot of "cramming" just to pass the test). But at least I was exposed to what I mentioned in the last response in a, at a minimum "neutral" manner, and most often in a "positive" manner (contrasted with the way our founding and history is often spun in a "negative" manner today).

And the 2nd way in which I feel fortunate is that I started to listen to the Mark Levin show a number of years ago. In fact, if memory serves, I think that I used to hear him on Sunday afternoons on WABC in NYC when (I just learned that) he was doing the show for free, just to get the experience! I have to say that I have learned more about our Constitution (and how it is intended to be used as a permanent guiding force for our government), as well as how to understand what is, and has been, happening in our country over the past several decades, than I ever did in any school course at any level. I know it may sound a bit over the top, and Mark would balk at hearing a compliment like this, but I consider Mark Levin to be a National Treasure. (Here's a laugh that maybe we all can share -- didn't the NAACP call that communist green job czar that was forced to resign, a "National Treasure?" I can't even recall his name, but I am glad to say that I am a citizen that still can understand what a National Treasure means! And can still manage at least a small laugh when I think of the absurdity that we are currently dealing with!)

Thanks. We all need a little levity right now.

I am about the same age as you and went through a lot of the same school experiences as you. My parents instilled a "own your own problem" mentality in me. Further, in college, of all places, I took what I will dub an "economics class for engineers." It was a macro economics class where the professor, a visitor from the UK, showed us the impact of gov't intervention on the economy. These two factors easily drove me to conservatism, which was later strenghtened by my faith.

Take care and I have greatly enjoyed FReeping with you!

From the pit...absolutely...and I fear let loose because our country has lost it’s moral compass, it’s sense of normality, it’s traditions, borders down and languages mixed, with few who come here that care to assimulate...and it grows daily.

We were once unapologetic of our nation and it’s laws “under God”...now our laws are our own devices and are nation is falling....turn your back on God....in time He can and will turn His on us and let the consequences play out.
