New York Post: Truman, Ike, Reagan: Next Up, Sarah Palin!
Citizen Palin 4 President ^ | Ralph Peters

Posted on 03/17/2010 7:46:25 AM PDT by MaxCUA

THE ISSUE: Whether presidential candidates today have character, as their predecessors did. In looking for a president with the character of Dwight Eisenhower, Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan, Ralph Peters asks, "Will we ever again have a president who didn't go to an Ivy League school, who knows what it's like to struggle -- as so many Americans struggle every day -- and who's tasted defeat, but got back in the ring with his dukes up?" ("Why Our 'Post-Modern Presidents' Fail,").

The answer is "yes." Her name is Sarah Palin. etc...

Hey Bobbo exactly how is Reagan’s California these days? Palio’s Alaska is STILL doing great!

__________________________________________

Could you possibly spin any faster?

Reagan's terms as Governor of California ended 35 years ago...suggesting that he is somehow responsible for today's circumstances is beyond silly.

Palin's self-interrupted single term as Governor of Alaska is not yet over, at least by the calendar. And, just last week an Alaskan freeper was complaining that things in Alaska have gone downhill since she quit.

Then it’s beyond silly to remember George Washington or Abe Lincoln or any other great leader in History who left a legacy.

Fact is, JUST 35 years later, Reagan’s California is BANKRUPT and JUST 22 years later Reagan’s America is essentially BANKRUPT too. We are still fighting against Hizbollah and Iran, and the FEDGOV that grew under Reagan is still growing.

Reagan didn’t quit? Well then WHAT DID he do? Fact is, Palin did more in Alaska than Reagan did in California, and excepting ONLY the demise of the USSR, in the US.

As surely as dogs return to their vomit, the McPalinites turn to smearing Ronald Reagan.

“Man, I’ve told you before here, here and here, you’ve gotta get your head out of the libtard rags.”

This is the standard response from Palin supporters when confronted with facts. EVERY publication in the US is a lib rag and therefore it ALL has to be a lie.

So where are we supposed to get our information? World Nut Daily and the Enquirer? I agree that 90% of the media is left leaning and that many writers and journalists want to skewer Palin. (How’s that different than any other pub or conservative?) But that doesn’t mean everything they say is a lie. I’ve put forth some information that you infer is false. Then it should be EASY to REFUTE it, right? But you never do.

I’m not alleging all my info is correct, I don’t produce it I just pass it along. If if IS false, please correct me, with cites from somewhere other than Going Rogue or a “Palin for president” website. If I am incorrect I will adjust my position accordingly.

“Palin grew up living in wolves territory — she’d know what to do.”

All your saying is that Palin is a loose cannon who can’t be trusted with the nuclear button.

“I believe the people of Alaska pay Fed Income Taxes and like every other State in this UNION deserve to get some of that back.”

All 600,000 of them. The COUNTY I live in has over 2 million people. On a per capita basis there is NO WAY anyone can justify the amount of money Alaska “get’s back” from the taxpayers of the other 49 states.

It’s obscene.

But that’s not even the issue. As stated Alaska is so wealthy it has no income or sales tax. It sends checks BACK to it’s residents every year. I’d love to see figures on how much those 600k residents PAY in income txes and how much the State gets back in services and direct revenue from me and other taxpayers who don’t live in the great white north.

Federal Tax Burdens and Expenditures: Alaska is a Beneficiary State

Alaska taxpayers receive more federal funding per dollar of federal taxes paid compared to the average state. Per dollar of Federal tax collected in 2005, Alaska citizens received approximately $1.84 in the way of federal spending.

You make an false idol of anyone and I’ll stand to tear it down.

Reagan was a great President, but not perfect. IMO, from her upbringing and history Palin would be a GREATER President than Reagan. She already beat Reagan as a Governor.

That was the idiotic smear CONSTANTLY used against Reagan, if you remember. It was wrong about him, and it’s wrong about Palin.

"Then it’s beyond silly to remember George Washington or Abe Lincoln or any other great leader in History who left a legacy."

No, it's just beyond silly to compare Palin to any of these giants.

//////////////////////////////////////

"Fact is, JUST 35 years later, Reagan’s California is BANKRUPT and JUST 22 years later Reagan’s America is essentially BANKRUPT too. We are still fighting against Hizbollah and Iran, and the FEDGOV that grew under Reagan is still growing."

Explain, please, in detail exactly how this can be attributed to RWR.

/////////////////////////////

"Reagan didn’t quit?" (no, he didn't...if I am wrong then please show us where he did quit)

"Well then WHAT DID he do? Fact is, Palin did more in Alaska than Reagan did in California, and excepting ONLY the demise of the USSR, in the US."

Please detail exactly what Palin accomplished in her self-interrupted term for Alaska and then please explain, in detail, exactly how her accomplishment during that brief period surpasses RWR's (completed) terms as Governor and his eight years as POTUS.....

Should be easy for you to do since you state that it is "fact".

“The PFD goes up and down, might be 200 bucks in 2 years not 3000.”

This is what I found for the last 4 years.

Year Amount
2009 $1,305.00
2008 $3,269.00
2007 $1654.00
2006 $1,106.96

Now either your fibbing, spinning or you are pathetically misinformed.

And this is what I’m talking about. You are an Alaskan resident, a Palin fan, and I know more about the Palin and Alaska facts than you.

Why is that so?

If I’m wrong about these numbers, please correct me.

For the 25 year period ending in 2005 Alaska was listed number one 18 times and never lower than number four in the ranks of states that received more federal aid than they paid in federal tax. They are essentially a welfare population.

Then you make this statement.

“First you need to educate yourself quite a bit more than you already think you seem to know about Alaska.”

If I’m right and you’re wrong you owe me an apology and also one to everyone reading this thread for misleadng them.

For many of us, it’s just be another day in the Palinista neighborhood. Smoke, mirrors, obfuscation, misdirection. Pay no attention to he facts behind the curtain, look at the bright shiny object I’m dangling in front of you. You are getting sleepy...very sleepy.

Palin did not take office until 2007. Sher used her exceptionally high popularity to push through legislative, executive and political initiatives meant to increase Alaskan self-sufficiency.
Polls taken in 2007 showed her with 93% and 89% popularity among all voters ...

In her State of the State address on January 17, 2008, Palin declared that the people of Alaska "can and must continue to develop our economy, because we cannot and must not rely so heavily on federal government." Alaska's federal congressional representatives cut back on pork-barrel project requests during Palin's time as governor

[Wikipedia]

She has conviction, courage and a willingness to take personal political risks for better government.

In other words...your absurd assertions and statements of “fact” cannot be supported by reality. Of course I knew that was the case and that you wouldn’t even try. The only question was exactly how you would duck the issue...now we know.

She carried McCain! If not for her being on the ticket — to McCain’s credit — he would have been hair cut shorter more than a Marine recruit.
