There is a creepy similarity between the US government tweets and the old Soviet slogans. Both are short messages from the leaders that are passed to the people to inform them of the official line and agenda. Lets take a look and compare.
Pres. Obama tweet: In just a few days, a century-long struggle will culminate in a historic vote. The time for health reform is now. Soviet slogan: Workers of public health and physical education! Improve the medical service to the people, more actively introduce physical education into the daily life of the people!....
State Dept tweet: New #Travel Warning for #Kenya due to continuing #terrorism threats and increased #violence. Soviet slogan: Greeting to the peoples of Africa, struggling against imperialism and racism, against all remnants of colonialism, and for freedom and national independence!
State Dept tweet: New #Travel Warning for #Mexico http://bit.ly/91QyiJ U.S. citizens are urged to be alert to safety and security concerns when visiting. Soviet slogan: Greeting to the people of Latin America, carrying on a courageous struggle against the oppression of imperialist monopolies, against reaction and fascism, for free and independent development, for peace, democracy, and social progress!
Sec. Clinton: Guaranteeing Israels security is more than a policy position for me. It is a personal commitment that will never waver." Soviet slogan: Peoples of the world! Strengthen the efforts in the struggle for the complete liquidation of the results of Israeli aggression, for the establishment of just peace for all the governments and peoples of the Mid East, against imperialist interference in the internal affairs of Arab nations!
