A former FBI counter-terrorism agent who was asked to analyze Kamal's emails stated:

UPDATE: The Dallas FBI located Javid Kamal today and interviewed him. He is being detained because they discovered during the investigation that he is in the country illegally and the FBI is working with CPB to have him deported. Because he’s not a threat or anything like that.
