I read a great email a couple of months ago. Basically it was written by a Boss who needed to make cutbacks at his company and decided to let go anyone with an Obama sticker on their car. The Boss said, “they wanted change, and they got it”.......

Texas is a right-to-work state and any employee can fire any employee who is not in a protected class for any reason. Must be prepared to pay the higher unemployment compensation tax that rises from their filing for unemployment unless you can show cause however. Sounds justified to me.... Obama care means lower reimbursements, overhead has to be cut...employee salaries/benefits are first place to cut! In our practice, the higher wage earners are likely to get hit first... regardless of the bumper stickers on their cars at election time...who can prove I remember which employees had hope and change tags on their bumpers? They hoped and now I’m gonna have to make a change.

There are many reasons, other than job performance, to determine who gets laid off. Company loyalty, whether other employees like, respect and trust you, and somebody you believe is voting against the best interest of your company are just a few.

Many Obama voters were just young and stupid, not “morons” but just ignorant and inexperienced.

And learning quickly and painfully that bad choices have unfortunate consequences.

“. . . based on the employee’s performance.”

In this case, I’d say the employee performed quite poorly at the ballot box.

He obviously wasn't qualified enough to make important decisions.

I’m not talking about the young and stupid ones in this case, I’m talking about the ones in their 30s and 40s that I work with. They bought this hope and change crap and most aren’t willing to give up their “unicorn” dreams about the chosen one. They should know better. They are morons.

Heck, even most of the youth should know better. I wasn’t old enough to vote for Reagan, but even as a teenager I still got it.

No, when I read the story it sounded like he had to fire an employee because of Obamacare, and since the employee had voted for Obama, the employer pointed out to the employee that he was losing the job because of the vote for Obama.

Meaning that if the country hadn’t voted for Obama, the employee would still have a job.

I agree, but come on. Most who voted for chosen one still think when the gov’t gives them stuff it’s “free”. Just like most of them think that corporations pay taxes (or not enough in their rhetoric).

I think this is a situation where the guy wasn’t cutting it, he was laid off, he knew his boss was anti-obama, figured he was entitled to his job regardless of his performance and is making a stink about it...sounds like typical liberal to me.

You are right. Here’s another post from the doctor on the TexAgs site (sounds like the employee learned a lesson):

“Isn’t it amazing the level of anger directed at me instead of the reason for the action which of course is Obamacare.

My employee understands what caused the action and is not mad, except at the effects of Obamacare.

In fact, they are going to stay on part time until they can find a permanent job.”

I read the original thread last Friday. What this article omits is that dermdoc was trying to help her find another job.

Most of the comments leave me fearful for the survival of the last free nation on Earth.

Actions have consequences, when a RIF is required, the Boss is free to decide who its going to be... People have to face the consequences of their actions.

If you are an economic buffoon and support economic policies that are bad for your employer, when it comes time for them to cut the fat, you are going to likely be on the chopping block.

You cannot raise up the wage earner, by tearing down the wage payer.

The employee isn’t making a stink. Check the quote in post #51.

TexAgs is a message board run by a former student at Texas A&M, first as a football board, but it has grown to be a major discussion site about generally everything, from nonsense to serious issues of the day.

It’s not formally affiliated with the university, but it has a huge readership. Somebody — not the employee — saw the doctor’s post and the resulting discussion and apparently sent it to media outlets.

The thread has since been removed at the doc’s request, just to quiet the commotion. But the discussion continues.

For those not familiar with Texas A&M, the student body and former students tend to be more conservative than the average university’s.

they tend to festoon their cubicles with articles of ‘hope and change’... reminds me of a gay parade. (do you really need parades to tell the world who you sleep with?)

In a sense, yes, if he put Obama over the top.

You are correct, not the employee. Let’s see if he files a complaint.

Sounds like the Dr. still needed to lay someone off and choose this guy. IF the guy was a top performer he probably would not have been laid off. People get laid off all the time for office politics, why not real world politics?

I’m still not feeling any sympathy for the obama voter getting laid off.

Elections have consequences...

Any chance we could lay-off Obama himself? Michelle too? Why wait until 2012. Let’s just give him a pink-slip for voting for himself.

Just asking.
