Obama gives away national security, then urges other Americans to give (VIDEO)

Barack Obama was sort of obligated, of course. He had, after all, been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize because he’d said he envisioned a world without nuclear weapons. So it was only logical that Obama would push to reduce our nuclear arms drastically.

The treaty was a start to Obama’s goal of making “the United States, and the world, safer and more secure.”

Russian president Dmitry Medvedev echoed Obama’s sentiment, saying, “I believe that this signature . . . will create safer conditions for life here and throughout the world.”

The question is, safer for whom really? As syndicated talk radio host Neal Boortz explained it Thursday, the treaty amounts to a neighborhood meeting in a tough area of town in which a resident explains that he will no longer be using his gun to defend himself from attack, provided his attackers are also not using guns. As Iran and other rogue nations seek to increase their nuclear capabilities, we are taking ours to 1960s levels.

The Obama foreign policy is reminiscent of that used by Jimmy Carter in the 1970s: trust and weaken. Fortunately for the United States, this milquetoast diplomacy was supplanted by the Reagan doctrine when dealing with the Soviet Union: trust, but verify. Already, conservative critics of the president, like potential GOP candidate Sarah Palin, are comparing the treaty to an invitation for our enemies to push the U.S. around.

In an unrelated story, while negotiating with the Russians to give away our hard-earned national security, the president taped a segment for the “Idol Gives Back” episode of Fox’s American Idol show to air Wednesday, April 21. Apparently giving felt so good that Obama wanted to encourage the whole country to get in the act. Bravo, Barack.

Also updated the story and added video of Obama’s interview with George Stephanopoulos of ABC, including Obama’s arrogant dismissal of Sarah Palin’s criticisms. As if being a community organizer and kinda sorta US Senator qualifies him to sign away 30% of our arsenal.
