Free Pennsylvania

Rob Gleason’s man Tim Burns appears on radio and television shows across the nation regularly these days, now that he received the Republican party endorsement for the seat formerly held by Jack Murtha. Rob Gleason is PA Republican State Chair and long time Murtha ally. Yes, I said Republican.

Burns does not mentioned that the grassroots conservative candidate for the House of Representatives from PA, Lt. Col. Bill Russell is beating him in the polls by 29 points http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/mar/23/defeat-for-another-house-seat/ . Burns is beating Critz the Democrat candidate by 4 according to his website. This translates to Russell smashing Critz in the general election.

Also not mentioned, while Murtha was hanging our Marines out to dry as ”cold blooded killers”, Gleason’s insurance firm profited from Murtha’s dealings, on the backs of the suffering of our marines. It was no surprise Gleason searched for a POSER candidate to attempt to hijack a very successful campaign from Lt. Col Bill Russell for the next election. Rob Gleason’s insurance business continues to make money from ideals with companies founded on Jack Murtha’s defense contract deals, something that Burns also does not mention. http://pagopwing.com/new_page_3.htm http://www.pa2010.com/2010/03/burns-launches-first-tv-ad/

Bill Russell had the courage to run for the seat occupied by Jack Murtha, while the man was alive and had the power of the incumbency to fight back. Murtha supervised any number of dirty tricks against Russell and not only did Russell survive, but as an unknown upstart without party support, came within striking distance of winning.

Col. Russell has a really good new TV ad running here locally in the 12th CD. It's been popping up on the FOXNEWS channel off and on most of the day. After seeing the ads with Burns and Critz bashing each other for days on end, Col. Russell's ad is a real breath of fresh air.

Somebody posted it on youtube, here's a link...

(Applause!!!) Thank you HC!!!

Excellent post. Burns came out of ‘nowhere.’ Russell ALMOST beat Murtha; and Russell had attracted national support.

PA Republicans that stupid or more nefarious? A quid pro quo...I don’t know...as I don’t live in JTown...but...

I think the ‘Tea Partiers’ are no longer ‘vote along a party endorsement.’ Nope...people are learning about who is on that ballot.

Thanks for the ping and great thread.

And Jeb Bush and Mike Huckabee put one up against Dan Fanelli.

See a pattern? Presidential wannabees settting up money suckers.

I am a long-distance admirer of Bill Russell and appreciate is exemplary military serve. I'm proud and excited to see military vets stepping forward in this election season! But better watch out about using pictures in military uniform. Something about an implied military endorsement. It can apparently get one in beaucoup trouble...

I agree. I think larger, behind the scenes efforts are at play. Those efforts and the strawman candidates need to be defeated.

Yes, it is to destroy the momentum of the Tea Party movement while singing its praises.

The ad is being put out by FreedomsDefenseFund PAC and there is no connection to the official Russell for Congress campaign. It’s an independent expenditure that Russell has no control over. Your advice is spot on, but in this case Col. Russell has nothing to be concerned about.

I'm from Philly. Not sure now that I think of it that Russell will be on the ballot box. Must look into it. I have literally brutal work shifts. Probably 98% of the people at this site would not last a day at the Home Depot I work at. Picture some days not even being able to get a fifteen minute break other then a four hour break for a lunch period. People streaming into my electrical department... asking tons of mostly idiotic questions ...tying me up from even completing the many chores I have (must find ladders to pack down the daily list of things that are not on the shelves, having to do transfers between stores of many items other stores need, doing safety checks, loading huge spools of wire onto special pipes we then have to pull out to sell to customers.. think two hundred pound huge spools of wire that must be hoofed onto horizontal bars etc.)....alone for four hours plus... having to make decisions on who to help and who that often hardly speak English to find a licenced electrician...
All kinds.... think of a emergency ward where the nurse or doctor does not get to sit down for five minutes... for four hours plus....then a break then don't sit down until another... But the catch is.... I put in easily five miles to eight miles per day having to fast walk from the front of the damn store to the back....George from Electrical need you in aisle 36 for customer assistance... George from Electrical I need you at aisle 1 on to help so goon ....picture very very hard concrete floors... Oh my! Somehow I must find a large ladder in the store to drop very very heavy boxes of wire that we just ran out of on the shelves... whoops... must then run to next aisle to climb up and carry down fifty pound 200AMP Circuit Breaker boxes or eight aisles down to carry down very heavy ceiling fans.... George from Electrical please come to the service desk... George from Electrical ..... please pick up phone 4 for customer service.... George from Electrical please come to cashier booth 11....need help on item with no SKU number...
Close store at 11PM.. Oh my the dope in scheduling has me to come in at 5AM.
So I do not often have time to answer in full to each of the ten to twenty pings I get a day at FR.
Let along participate as I would wish in civic responsibilities.
So If you don't get responses from me...perhaps I am bleary eyed and partially non-functional.... I'm soon to be 64 and whithering at the bones.
No. Can't retire just yet. I depend on the health insurance Home Depot provides full time employees.
At any rate. Thanks for the ping.

Marine Uncle! I thought I saw you at a Thursday Morning meeting!

I talked to you in HD a couple times. (no not in the electrical deparment but in the front of the store)

I live just a few miles from the store.

Glad you got my post! Next time I come to the store I’ll introduce myself.

You are about 5 10 to 6 foot with dark hair with some gray correct?

Sorry for the double ping. I pinged you to the wrong thread the first time.

40 lashes for the blonde!

From Bob Guzzardi PA conservative activist:

The Principled, Authentic, Resolute outsider, Bill Russell (Lt. Col. Army retired) , disdained and dismissed by the Rob Gleason Earmarking Establishment, who get rich from government, demonstrated from the outset leadership. As Wall Street Journal’s John Fund observed ( 4/27/2010): “Many veterans lack the polish and political skills of candidates who have climbed the ladder of public office, but in an anti-incumbent year they may find more success than normal precisely because they haven’t been tainted by the backroom deal-making that voters are increasingly suspicious of.” John Fund of WSJ Political Diary (a subscription service. Below is extended commentary on Rahm Emanuel’s strategy to recruit Vets as Candidates.

In the 12th, “Military veterans comprise a sizeable 13% of the vote.” — Kyle Trygstad, RealClearPolitics.com

Rahm’s Way

The idea of specifically recruiting military veterans to run for marginal House seats was part of Rahm Emanuel’s master plan when he ran the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in 2006. The strategy helped Democrats win back the House. Now Republicans are taking a page from the Book of Rahm and mounting their own effort to run veterans of the Iraq and Afghan wars. The Washington Times reports that the number of vets running this year will be double what it was in 2008 — and most of the 40 who are running are running as Republicans.

The surge comes at a time when the total of veterans in the House has reached a post-World War II low of just over 21%. D. Patrick Mahoney, an Iraq War veteran who heads the Veterans for Congress political action committee, says it’s to be expected that several of this year’s candidates will stumble short of the finish line because they come to their races without the wealth or network of supporters that more established candidates have.

Nonetheless, in the right districts veterans can appeal to voters as fresh faces who have proven their leadership qualities. Rep. Joe Sestak, a former admiral, is picking up ground in Pennsylvania’s Democratic Senate primary against longtime incumbent Arlen Specter. Mark Kirk, an Illinois GOP congressman who was twice deployed to Afghanistan as a reservist in 2008, is now favored to win the Senate seat once held by Barack Obama. Allen West, a Bronze Star winner who has trained Afghan troops as an adviser, is wowing Republican audiences in Palm Beach, Florida in his race to unseat an incumbent Democrat. Steve Stivers, another Bronze Star winner from the Iraq war, is an even bet to unseat Democratic Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy in a Columbus, Ohio district.

Many veterans lack the polish and political skills of candidates who have climbed the ladder of public office, but in an anti-incumbent year they may find more success than normal precisely because they haven’t been tainted by the backroom deal-making that voters are increasingly suspicious of.
