Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah's Ark Ministries International research team that made the discovery on Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey, said: "It's not 100 percent that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99.9 percent that this is it."
According to Genesis 8:4, once the flood waters receded Noah’s Ark “came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.” That is where the team of Chinese and Turkish Evangelical Christians found what they believe to be the famed Ark.
The group says that carbon dating proves the relics found are 4,800 year old which correlates to the time-frame given in the Bible for the Ark.

Take wood samples and analyse it for poop of many animals. If detected, they will have found the ark.
If not a scam, this find should prove interesting, be it the ark or not.

absolutely right. Finding a wooden structure, which appears to be very old, very high up on Mount Ararat, well above any known settlements, is very significant.
The Christian Science Monitor reports, “Dr. Randall Price, an evangelical Christian and former member of the Chinese-led team that announced this week’s finding, says the latest purported finding may not withstand closer scrutiny.
“’If the world wants to think this is a wonderful discovery, that’s fine. My problem is that, in the end, proper analysis may show this to be a hoax and negatively reflect how gullible Christians can be,’ he says.
“Dr. Price, who is director of the Center for Judaic Studies at the conservative Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., was the archaeologist on the Chinese-led team in 2008 when this alleged discovery was first made. He says he has ‘difficulties with a number of issues related to the evidence at hand.’
“Price declined to elaborate. However, a leaked email from Price – which he confirms that he wrote – shows that he has reason to believe that a group of local Kurdish men trucked wood up to the mountain and staged an elaborate hoax for the Chinese team.”
Well....if the carbon dating shows it to be 5,000 years old, and it turns out to be brand new, well, then, win win.
The Bible says God told Noah to build the ark from “gopher wood”. Since that isn’t native to that part of Turkey and carbon 14 dating puts it at the right time frame, I’d have to say “BINGO”
I would definitely pay attention to what Dr. Randall Price says, because he does know his archeology and he is reputable and apparently he knows something more about what is going on here....
I would be extremely cautious about this... and it doesn’t hurt anything, in the discovery itself, when one is extremely cautious and verifies all things first, before saying something is confirmed.

Well, I wouldn't be going "BINGO" just quite yet ... LOL ...
I would wait for a rigorous study and confirmation first, before I would weigh in on the "BINGO" ... :-)

Ummmm..., they're not very good scientists if they're saying 99.9 percent that this is it -- at this stage of the game... that alone makes me very highly suspicious of their claims...

Even if a boat-like structure made from gopherwood and covered with pitch is what the searchers found, it could still have been constructed as some sort of shrine or monument rather than an ark that came to rest there.
While these slightly weird looking structures are undeniably big, it's utterly absurd to think they represent a size capable of somehow simultaneously containing two and seven of every species on Earth or even every "kind" of species on Earth. And what's even more absurd is that any human being intelligent enough to tie their own shoes could actually believe this silly fairytale story was an historic event that really happened. Even if we accept that every animal described could safetly fit on a giant boat and not cause it to sink, the notion that this boat had room to also fit the necessarily food supply to sustain them all, had the room for all their excrement, and that none of the animals were eaten by their natural predators is patently absurd.
