Bakersfield, CA --Damon Dunn, Republican Candidate for Secretary of State, addressed the Tea Party April 15, describing how his own journey from abject poverty taught him the value of individual self-reliance.

"I learned that the government, when I was poor, could be a safety net, but never a trampoline. Any upward mobility was going to require the individual to create it; to develop it.

The African American, former pro-football player and Stanford Honors student described how his rise from childhood poverty to millionaire status as a small business owner offers him a unique understanding of the factors involved in success. The tea party responded warmly to that understanding.

"I was poor, and presidents came and went; and governors came and went; and elected officials came and went; and they never put a car in my garage; and they certainly never put a roof over my head.

"See, I understand that the government will never spend you into the middle class. (The crowd responds) "That's Right!"

"See, I understand that the government will never spend you into being responsible. Right?" (The crowd responds) "Right"

"They're not going to spend me into getting straight A's in high school so I can get into Stanford University; they're not going to spend me into cultivating my talents as a football player; at some point, the individual has to understand that achievement comes down to the individual(imagine that!): Take responsibility for your own success." The crowd roars.

A rousing speech from a republican candidate for California Secretary of State. Address to the Tea Party at Kern County, Liberty Bell, April 15, 2010. Because of the universal principles of hope, individualism, and leadership raised in this speech, it may be of nationwide interest as well as to California voters. We enjoyed listening to this again and again.

According to Taitz’s website Dunn was a RAT but switched affiliation to the OP(formerly the GOP) less than the required year in order to run for Secretary of State, didn’t disclose this fact and tried to destroy his voter registration records.

According to Taitz’s website...

Orly Taitz will not be California's next Secretary of State.

I can’t wait until 2013 when Obama leaves office to become President of the Communist Party or the UN or something.

Man50D — Ronald Reagan was also a registered democrat at one point, as was my father early on. Seems time and events often changes that magical thinking. Obama has brought change for many folks, a change of mind. Obviously you didn’t watch him speak, he stands on his own two-feet.

Drew68 — I would say that your fierce opposition to Orly is one of the better endorsements for her.

I respect what Orly is doing and I believe there are loyalty issues in respect to Obamasan’s Birth. However Orly never quite struck me as someone with a stable personality. I believe she better serves in the role of thorn-in-the-side-citizen.

I had the chance to speak with Damon as well a listen to him speak. He was warm and natural, I sensed he spoke from the heart, openly and without prompt or hesitation. In my opinion he is an honest man who believes what he says and represent it as such.

I'm only citing from her website. Apparently it is law that a switch in parties must occur at least a year prior to running for Secretary of State.

All that is irrelevant if what Taitz states is in fact the law. BO/BS appeared to many as warm and natural during his campaign but was and is in fact a flaming socialist out to destroy The Constitution and our Democratic Republic. Having the warm fuzzies about someone does not make the person qualified for office, especially if he or she has violated the law.

I would think Orly would have brought this issue up before he was certified for the ballot. Although I'm not saying her claim is not true, I just haven't heard it before.

You seem to be relying on Orly here, a gambling man eh? Regardless, as someone who spends some of my time testifying as to whether or not someone is "warm and fuzzy" or a sociopath I feel my opinion has some degree of accuracy.

It is free country, I suggest you vote your beliefs my FRiend.

^ “IANAL” should end the paragraph above where it is. Opps.

You seem to be trying to read more into my merely citing from a source. It is a fact this is posted at her website.

I would think Orly would have brought this issue up before he was certified for the ballot.

The issue involves his qualification as Secretary of State. The qualification was a moot point prior to him announcing his candidacy.

Although I'm not saying her claim is not true, I just haven't heard it before.

It's easy enough to research, particularly on the internet.

You continue to read and assume more into my postings than actually exist. I was merely passing along what maybe relevant information. I have no vested interested since I don't live in California. However if I did this issue would be worth further examination to confirm or refute Dunn violating the law. This is an important issue as one who seeks a political office rooted in the rule of law.
