I am sure many of them actually have had their eyes open and realize that radical Islam is a huge threat. They are too PC, too scared to say anything out loud, and/or will never admit their political enemies - the conservatives - have been right about this. They hate being wrong and having to admit they were wrong. They never want to admit they’re wrong. If they do, they try to minimize it and it’s not a big deal.

This doesn’t fit the Leftists’ view of “reality” ... where the most evil people in the world must be conservative white men ... unless, of course, it’s a conservative black man.

My guess is it conflicts with their world view, so they can’t accept it.
Number one on their view is non judgemental muliculturalism.
No one culture can be better than another, so the reason these people are attacking must be socioeconomic and personal stresses. (She says so in her screed - is the guy lonely? etc)
They just can’t accept that there is a bad culture out there at war against good people. That would upset everything they believe about the way the world works.
It’s also why they are condemned to epic fail. If your personal philosophy is wrong, you will always be confounded.
