Voters began showing up in bigger numbers as the voting day wound down to its final hours today at about 5:30 p.m.
At Wellesley Free Library on Washington Street, poll worker Ted Becker reported the Wakelin Room had received more than 300 voters, close to double the turnout for the Democratic primary between Lida Harkins and Peter Smulowitz.
At Sprague Elementary School, the numbers per hour had increased to 30 - 70 voters per hour, totaling about 450 out of 2,400 voters registered for the precinct, according to poll worker Barbara Sturgis.
At Fiske Elementary School, where voters were voting in place of their usual polling spot at Wellesley High School, about a 20 minute drive away, voters continued to arrive sporadically, said poll worker Denis Viechnicki. Some voters who usually vote at Fiske also showed up here, but were turned away because their Senator is Cynthia Creem, who is not running in today's race.

Word is that Richard has won. Wellesley went for his opponent, so glad I don’t live there, anymore.
