Dear Ms Scott,
Thank you for your recent letter informing me of the efforts of your fine organization to discourage the teaching of creationism, elsewise known as intelligent design.
The answer to your questions is: yes, I did know that evolution was under attack. But unlike you, I am not that concerned about it. Im certainly not concerned enough to part with the $100 you ask for.
Like you, Im convinced that the Earth is more than six-thousand years old. The evidence that its age is four-and-a-half billion years old, plus or minus a few tens of millions, is multitudinous.
Life on Earthhowever it beganincreased in complexity through some form of descent with modification. Natural selection at the individual level explains most observed variation, but not all. There are small holes in the theory of evolutionas there are in all biological or physical theoriesthat will probably be filled as time progresses.
The animal homo sapiens sapiens is one of the creatures produced by evolution. The weight of evidence supporting that statement is enormous. However, it is also true that evolution is weakest when explaining human behavior. Some observations which are counter to strict selfish gene theories: abortion, adoption, altruism, to name just the As.
However,...

“Anyway, its obvious that the combative tone adopted by the majority of your compatriots, their pitting Evolution vs. Religion as an all-out, winner-take-all battle, is in large part responsible for the escalation in rhetoric.”
Same thing happened with the homosexual lobby.
That is my take too. The reaction to Intelligent Design is WAY WAY over the top.
Invariably when an evolutionist speaks in such absolute terms ... right around the corner is another finding that further erodes the notion that evolution is a proven fact.
Jesus explains that salvation is rebirth as a spiritual creature. Such condition is decidedly not evolutional.
Prior to spiritual rebirth humans are mere animals, subject to all the laws of that fallen state, evolution chief among them.
There are, then, 2 states of existence. The one is animal consciousness. The other is God consciousness.
Those who choose to submit to the laws of evolution can not rise above them. Those who choose to submit to the laws of God are reborn as spiritual creatures, no longer subject to the laws of nature.
They want to be monkeys? Fine. Let them be monkeys.
Nearly everything that was written about the solar system in my old astronomy textbook from the 1960s was proven wrong by the Voyager fly-by missions.
So much for inevitable truth of scientific theories...

Evolution is not a problem for me. I think that when the human being had the brain capacity to comprehend GOD, God made contact.
Because it isn’t about science. It’s about getting rid of God.
