NPR Tries to Cast Rand Paul as KKK Sympathizer
Publius Forum ^ | 05/20/10 | Warner Todd Huston

On the day after his historic primary win, National Public Radio rabidly went after Rand Paul, newly minted GOP nominee for Kentucky Senator, trying to make him out to be a KKK sympathizer or perhaps a racist that would have agreed to keep Jim Crow alive and well in 1964. This rabid, left-wing attack is uncalled for and, further, is meant only to stir anti-Republican hatred and not to help voters discover anything relevant about nominee Rand Paul.

Nearly at the top of the interview the host of NPR's All Things Considered tried to paint Mr. Paul as some sort of hater that would have opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Catch this loaded and irrelevant question by NPR:

You've said that business should have the right to refuse service to anyone and that the Americans for Disabilities Act, the ADA, was an over reach by the federal government, would you say the same by extension of the 1964 Civil Rights Act?
Paul gave a very good reply but the best thing he said was that he hadn't read through the entire 1964 legislation because it had been passed 40 years ago and didn't have any role in today's campaign. And that is just it, isn't it? The 1964 Civil Rights Act is ancient history as far as current politics goes. It is fully accepted and is not a law in dispute, nor does it have any part in current political discussion. The law is fact the legitimacy of which no one questions. Talking about the 1964 Civil Rights Act is not relevant alt all to today's issues...

The Old Media strikes to destroy a conservative once again.

Is he a conservative...or a libertarian?

That is how the media operates.

That is what we face. The media sets the agenda in this country and we have to change the media. Somehow.

Defund the Left. This is taxpayer funded radio. State Run Media.

Screw these socialists who are sh** scared that their plans may be put to a halt once again.

Paul should have been ready to throw it right back in their face, referring to NPR as a “left-wing organ of the Democrat party”, more than willing to use religious and racial hatred to advance their cause, projecting their prejudices on others.

And, he should have continued, “Congress should examine revoking the NPR charter, and selling off its assets, for using public monies to support an openly partisan agenda.”

Oh when TSHTF or a civil war erupts, I just hope the people on our side remember that the media is the enemy too.

Everybody knows the KKK was a bunch of Democrats. Does NPR think Abe Lincoln formed the Klan? They should talk to Sen Byrd while they still have time.

The left is throwing a hissy fit over talk about doing away with the Sec. of Education and the unelected, unaccountable EPA.

Hey, the KKK were just southern insurgents who dragged the Civil War out 100 years.

Defund Pacifica Radio too (we fund it in portion). It makes NPR look like Fox News.

So why did he go on Maddow’s show? And NPR?

Why give State TV credibility?

This morning he admits it was a mistake.

Good grief, here we go again.

The only KKK member I know of Congress is Senator Byrd (D).

>>Is he a conservative...or a libertarian?<<

He is a conservative in the libertarian way, kinda like me. :)

I was discussing with a couple of friends the difference between the labels “conservative” and “libertarian”. I think the former is just a label that depends on context while the latter much more stands on its own.

Libertarian has a fairly narrow meaning, while words like “liberal” and “conservative” depend on the environment in which they are being used.

A conservative in Kentucky, USA has quite a bit different political viewpoints than a conservative in Moscow, Russia. Libertarians from either place would probably hold pretty similar viewpoints.

I’m not sure why he would give an interview to NPR anyway.

Some supposedly on the right are trying to destroy him too, seems he is on to something. The GOP establishment and the lefty establishment don’t want their piggy bank taken away.

Reigning in the Federal Govt is the issue of our time, and yes it trumps terrorism. There won’t be anything left for anyone to attack.

Does NPR mean the KKK which was a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Democrat Party?
