Radio host Alex Jones, who believes that 9/11 was a U.S. government plot and "inside job" conspiracy, is featured in Chris Matthews' Wednesday documentary on MSNBC as a leader of the "New Right" and the Tea Party movement. But Jones has absolutely nothing to do with the conservative or Tea Party movements.
In the advance promotional advertisements for the program, Jones is shown saying that the U.S. has entered the phase of "deep tyranny." The promos make Jones appear to be the undisputed leader of the "New Right" and the Tea Party movement.
But in fact, a video shows Jones disrupting a Tea Party rally in Texas by shouting at organizers and speakers with a bullhorn. This performance woke up many Tea Party members to the real Jones agenda and he has been anathema to them ever since.
"HARDBALL Looks at Conservative Movement," the MSNBC website says, referring to the Chris Matthews program which airs at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday.
But Jones is not and never has been a conservative. Jones has much more in common with the left than the right. He is, for example, a member of the 9/11 Truth Movement, as was Van Jones, the Obama official fired after evidence of his communist background began to surface. The 9/11 Truth Movement was originally designed to undercut evidence that Muslims were behind the attacks that killed almost 3,000 Americans. Leftists joined the movement and used it to undermine the Bush Administration drive for a military response to Islamic terrorism and its base of operations in the Middle East.

Jones' positions on many issues, such as Israel and 9/11, are repugnant, but he interviews some good people, and he provides a lot of solid, verified information that is not available in the MSM, or even here on Free Republic.
Remember Orlin Grabbe? Lots of conservatives dismissed his rantings, but most of it was born out by later disclosures.
Given the state of the media, we have to get our information from wherever and whomever we can. It's up to us to cross check that information and not take everything we read as fact.
Jones allowed the MSNBC interview, knowing full well they would distort his views. According to him, they didn't use any of his actual comments. The whole thing was edited and sculpted to shape opinion and further divide the voters who stand ready to boot the Democrats out of Congress in November.
I'm amazed that the readers on this thread would so easily fall into their trap.

I don’t think the Left likes him very much right now, although when Bush was in office they probably loved him. He calls Obama “The Kenyan” and “Barry Soetoro,” for example.

For starters, from me, every time some whacko acquaintance sends me to infowars.com to see some "gotta-see" BS. Each time they swear Jones has cleaned up the clutter on the site, but there's only so much good lipstick can do for a pig.
Alex Jones makes his money keeping the paranoid wound up tight, and selling them gold, survival junk, tin foil, etc., all for just triple of what any of it would cost at the surplus store or Cabellas.
He is anti-war and he is in with the radical left now. He calls it “conservative.” The show boat idiot threatened Michelle once at a public event.

Most people in America (let alone “the rightwing”) have never even heard of Alex Jones (he leans right on some things, but I peronally think he’s crazy, as in nutty)..
Reviewing this thread, pretty clearly it’s a pile-on of Jones. Including, this poster respectfully recognizes, none other than Jim Thompson.
This in mind, choosing words carefully here - Jones is IMHO a legitimate voice, a force through sheer strength of his convictions even, against the globalists.
The globalists who would eliminate our national borders, subsume our national interests to global control - and who have cratered our once-mighty manufacturing base.
Alex Jones is a bit like Pat Buchanan. A lightning rod, but sometimes the only one, speaking an unpopular truth.
Criticized for similar reasons. Some of it, perhaps justified.
Some likewise, reflexive. IMHO.
I sort of like listening to Jones sometimes. He’s willing to say things, which others won’t.
That alone, is worth listening to. Sure you have to choose what to discard. Such as the 9-11 “truther” nonsense.
But he’s on balance good to have out there, I think.
One would never mistake him for any sort of a Tea Party icon though. He’s more like a political George Noory.
Except maybe one who drinks (way, way) too much coffee. :)
WHile Jones may be “right” on any number of things, the notion that he is the only one talking about it is preposterous.
