Vanity- NYC trip...best tour(s) suggestion
ME ^ | Wobbly Bob

I did some searches on tours, so far Onboardnewyorktours.com looks to be a possible choice with their "See the Best" tour... I like Revolutionary War history and American history in general. (I also like pubs.)

I have not visited NYC in years.

A visit to McSorley’s Old Ale House is a must. Drink ales and eat aged cheddar with saltines, onion and pub mustard. mmm, mmm, mmm!

Get a real samich at the Carnegie Deli. You won't have to eat for a week.

Sit on a bench in Central Park and watch people.

The Staten Island Ferry isn’t free, but without a car the fare is nominal. The best buy in NYC...and, you’ve got freepmail.

Fraunces Tavern is really cool, but I think it’s temporarily closed for business. Be sure to call and check before you go. Have fun.

The SI Ferry has been free since 1997. No cars allowed anymore. It’s free because the bridge toll to Staten Island os so darn expensive! They want people to ride the ferry.

Burp Castle is a pretty cool (but expensive) place to get a beer. It’s right by McSorley’s, too.

Staten Island Ferry IS free, unless they've changed things in the last two years. Cars are no longer permitted (since 9/11 I think).

I live here and love NYC.

If I were a vistor here is what i would see and these following are pretty close to each other. Start out EARLY!

1. City Hall - historic Site

Proceed to

2. 60 Centre Street - famous Court house scene from Law 7 Order and Godfather. Foley Square.

Proceed to

3. Brooklyn Bridge - right next to 60 Centre Street. You can walk half way on the foot path.

Proceed to:

4. WTC center site - which is about 6 blocks away. Its more built out now than 10 years ago obviously.

Go south to Battery Park

5. go on Statue of Libery trip but go EARLY! Gets crowded.

6. Take cab up west side to the Intrepid Museum. You only need an hour there.

7. Go on the Circle Line tour. Its a boat trip around manhattan. For 39.00 its worth it.

8. If you have time, go north to Grants tomb.

Save the Time Square, Madison Square Garden, Midtown stuff for the evening.

Central park is nice, but be careful at night. Its getting crazy lately.

I dont know how long you are staying, but the Bronx Zoo and Metopolitan Museaum of Art, museaum of Nat. History, are nice to go to.

Wall Street is what it is.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, most peopel are firnedly.

Also, dont miss Grand Central Station.

thanks, I believe we will be staying in Manhatten.

Oh, I forgot something important: DON'T RENT A CAR. YOU WILL NOT LIKE DRIVING THERE, and you also don't need it. Walk. Subway. Taxi.

Skip the organized tour. If you have a few days and you are in mid-town, take the number one subway down to Battery Park. Walk along the esplanade - you will see Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, and a little to the West, you can see ground Zero. That’s half a day.

In mid-town, visit Times Square, take in a show if you can, and maybe visit the Intrepid. (I’d take a cab to the Intrepid.)

If you still have time, take in some of the museums. Moma and Museum of Natural History are my favorites.

NYC is a great city, despite the fact that socialist creeps run the place, like Emperor Bloomberg.

Oh, also - take ALOT of money. You’ll need it.

Also - try to catch a Yankees Game. The new stadium is great and only a subway ride from Grand Central.

I would also rent a bike a and ride the pth along the West Side Highway.

I take my jetski down the hudson every weekend and always envision the black and white pictures of all the steam ships up and down the hudson in the harbor and imagine myself as part of that. Crazy me huh?

I would also check out Broadway just to walk around and get the feel of the hustle and bustle of the city.

and dont eat at the tourist traps! you will get ripped off!

Go to Little Italy and its not that expensive at all.

I spent 4 weeks in NY once. Saw the parking lot and inside of a power plant in New Jersey across the river from the Statue of Liberty.

Does that count as a NYC tour? 8<)

I learned that from Tokyo. (not to even attempt)

Some places are meant for transit...

They are ok. But you dont get the real feel of the city.

I gave you a pretty good plan to go on to where all the places are not too far apart and can be done.

Check on the statue of liberty tour since those get packed as hell very early and you dont want to waste 4 hours standing in line.

The Circle Line is good to go on and you will go around the island on Manhattan on that. You will see the entire City that way from the water.

If you have a few days, you can definately see everything if you start out early with a plan.

Go to upstate new york. Like Lake George or anywhere int he adirondacks. Or Finger Lakes. It is a whole lot nicer.

In NYC, You MUST do the Intrepid, it’s awesome. And chinatown/little italy. Everything else pretty much sucks. :)
