In late February, I asked USC recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron what he told prospects and their parents about the possibility of NCAA sanctions.
With the penalties having been announced earlier this month, I revisited the subject with the boisterious defensive line coach:
Question: Lets say Im a recruit, and I tell you I want to play in the Rose Bowl next season. How do you respond to that?
Orgeron: Heres the deal. Youre going to play for a great university with a great tradition. That hasnt changed. Next, youre going to get a great education here. That, for sure, is never changing. Third thing is, youre going to come here to be coached by a great staff. Thats there. The fourth thing is, youre going to come here to play for a national-championship (caliber) football team. Youre still going to do that. Youre not going to come here for one game.
Question: Fine, coach. But I want to play for a national championship, too.

I too wish Coach Shrek was still at Ole Miss....I'm a Mississippi State fan. He's the only coach in America who made Sylvester Croom look like a genius.
Seen “The Blindside”? That is one goofy SOB.
