FR was out for me on Sunday and now it is responding very slowly except when I select a topic. The main page loads VERY SLOWLY.
Is anyone else experiencing problems with FR? All other internet sites are normal.

Yes, it’s slow. I couldn’t open a couple of sites I wanted to read. There were several times last weekend that FR wouldn’t even open up!
Oh heck, these outages always happen right before a Freepathon, you know, to make you understand just how much you’ll miss it if it goes dark, and thereby hopefully making you more inclined to donate to keep the site up and happily running :):):)
In spite of having a very powerful computer and excellent high-speed Internet access, we have also been having ongoing “issues” with trying to log on to FR since Saturday evening. It has been impossible to go to FR’s home page until this evening (Monday night)... So S L O W the web page timed out continually thus keeping us from even accessing FR or any of it’s pages at all. I do not know what has been going on but we are grateful that FR is back online.
I couldn’t get it at all, all day yesterday and today until this evening.
It was worse in some regions, like mine, than others.
Glacially slow - pages will load (unlike the last two days), but it takes about a minute or so for each page to load.
2 minutes plus for each page to load.
Sorry, but I’m glad it isn’t just me and my Comcast internet provider...
It’s either a slow load or down for me on both my servers in the last several days.
My husband, who has his own server is experiencing the same thing.
Unfortunately, it’s still slow; however, it’s also still available, and so far, we don’t have Skinner-style rules to stifle all dissent, so I’m still grateful as all get-out to the folks who run this place!

For me the loading is still a minute or more for each FR page, and hope it is repaired soon. Worse than Facebook on dial-up!
It’s taking 2 to 3 minutes to load a page. I’ve emptied my cache and tried to delete any cookies with free, republic or free republic in them.
I have a MAC. Any suggestions? Help.
Again, not sure it "didn't just happen," but the FR connection has now apparently been repaired and if you're still having problems, it might be worth the try.

me too, after unplugging and resetting my modem and router. Don’t know if that was coincidental to what FR was doing with their servers, but it is now faster. Cheers!
