I think that sending Obama into a frothing rage is an excellent approach, as it plays to his narcissistic personality. Revealing him to the “independent” voters would be very helpful.

But I don’t think that this battlefield would do that. I think this would just allow him to turn things around and appear to be the “well-meaning but obstructed leader” to those who still see the possibility of clothes on this emperor.

As a side note to this, I also believe that conservatives need to focus less on processes and personalities (though not ignore them) and more on the electorate. Without the latter being won over, tea parties would have had no luck in getting politicians to listen, regardless of what procedural games were tried.

I am going to paint with a somewhat broad brush here. Thus far, Obama has appointed far left radicals whose judgment is counter to the best interests of the nation as a whole. Lobbyists, radical leftist lawyers and judges, cronies, no nothing academic leftists, no nothing economic advisers, and sympathetic media personalities are some of his appointments. Based on who he has already picked, he has proved that he lacks mature judgment and doesn't deserve any further appointments. Republicans are in a position to block any further nominations and they need to take a stand now. Rubber stamping his appointees is no longer an option, based upon the damage done to this nation by Obama appointees, the present Democrat Party, and appointees of past Democrat Presidents.

Republicans MUST make their case to the people, and be clear on why they oppose Obama's picks. The sympathetic media will pile on against the Republicans, but they cannot waiver any longer. Their waffling has already put the economic security of all Americans at severe risk. Their waffling has also put the safety of all Americans at risk because of their ill advised fear of taking a stand against blanket Amnesty.

As for the Tea Party, I think they have gotten off to a good start. A number of Democrats and Rinos have already gone down in flames, with more to follow. As others have noted, Tea Party members quickly dispensed with questions of gender and race. The proof is the elections of Haley, Jindal, and Tim Scott. The Tea Party has boldly claimed the conservative title. From the beginning, the Tea Party bluntly put Rinos on notice that they are not welcome.

The Tea Party has started out with a popular appeal because of the recklessness of the Democrats, and the impotence, real or self imposed, of the Republicans, and their ideas cut across party lines. By default, the Tea Party owns the electoral issues, because they are counter to the leftist issues, and the Rinos cannot defend themselves because they have acquiesced too often to the Liberals in Congress.

Again, as another poster noted, each Tea Party victory is painful for the left and the Rinos because a position of power and influence in now denied to each group. The Tea Party, still in a learning stage, was born with mature ideas because its members are composed of those who work or run their own businesses, raise families and pay taxes. Biden, in a Marie Antoinette moment, called a man a smartass because he wanted his taxes lowered. Tea Party members can look people in the face on an equal basis, and truthfully tell them that they want to lower their taxes too!
