Skip to comments.Republican Good Ol'Boys: "Hey, let's make Sarah Palin RNC Chairman"

You really have to laugh at these Republican establishment types. These good old boy characters couldnt be more pathetic if they tried.
As you know, Michael Steele has once again opened mouth and inserted foot. Full disclosure, I like Michael Steele. I dont have bad feelings for the guy. But hes proven that being the Chairman of the RNC isnt the best use of his talents. This latest flap is way overblown, however. Hes said worse.
Anyhow, this isnt about bashing Michael Steele. Nope, this is all about exposing the pathetic milquetoast moderates and their silly notions.
With all of the calls for Steele to step down, the establishment seems to think they have an idea: Replace Steele with Sarah Palin. No, Im serious here. Kevin D. Williams writing for National Review Online came up with this...

IOW sit down, shut up, and raise money for the RNC rather than for tourself. No thanks.
You are right. I caught heck yesterday for even suggesting it.
“BTW Palin would be the perfect choice for leader of GOP. There should be no discussion.”
What you got right is that there should be no discussion.
However, this would be a HORRIBLE move for Palin and for the budding rebirth of the Conservative movement.
Palin is MUCH more influential where she is, and doing what she is doing.
The Republican party, as it is, needs to be replaced by a true Conservative party, outside the bounds of the status quo. The quicker we can do that, the better.
Candidates may need to call themselves Republicans for the sake of elections, but RINOs and country-club Republicans need to GO. The “Republican” brand is dead and is a LOSER.
Accordingly, Palin should have NOTHING to do with the Republican establishment, beyond what is absolutely necessary to get true Conservative candidates elected.
My choice for RNC chair would be either Courtney Friel or Liz.
“What they need is a Haley Barbour type: low profile, highly effective.”
(And YES, I like Sarah Palin....and understand where she is most effective!)
Having Sarah Palin head up the RNC could be good on many levels.
1. She does energize base quite easily
2. She is conservative and that change would come easier from within - IMO
3. She is able to fire off speaches that challenge the left
4. She is not quiet and that is what the RNC needs
5. I feel that she has the better abilities to get people behind ideas than these old geezers who play party politics.
Admittedly, it would take her out of the running for president, which would only be bad for America as I think that she would be a great president.
Mmmmmm, that’s so sweet.
Betcha boots I’d shake ‘em up........but I would never take the job.
I agree, and she will be, just as soon as she wins the White House in 2012.
I’d like to see John Bolton as President Palin’s secretary of state.
Thats ok with me too.
I know the establishment just wants to box her in to get her out of the way. I think she would exceed all expectations in the job and end up with all the glory come nov. 2010. I know I would contribute to the rnc the day she steps in. By the way this is the perfect time to take this job as she is not running for anything this election. She could then step down after the 2010 elections and think about her political future.
Conservative women are now the true leaders of our party. I guess some people are not too happy about that. But I don’t see any of them stepping up to the plate.
The problem is Palin has to many prior commitments lined up already. Palin still has to film her Alaskan series and wrote her next book. Then by the end of August Palin hit the road again with speeches and gear up for the election season. By the end of November her book will be out and another book tour will commences.
So I would say Palin has a full plate right now.
you’re right about her being too busy. I am just saying if she did do it, I think she would hit the ball out of the park. Much to the chagrin of the go along to get along types.
Alright, you guys need to discuss this...My point is I can see the next election, with 3 or 4 different “conservative” right wing parties, republicans, conservative, tea party, libertarian, independent, constitutional...and everyone pulling votes every which way. But with Sarah as Republican Party leader, (she IS a republican) she would draw a lot of different people back to the party. She has cajones, which is what the party lacks now. She would draw the people who want that, she is christian, draw them, very conservative she’ll draw them. She loves the law and would draw constitutionalists. Anyone else, maybe we don’t want them. She would show that the Republican party is serious now. She would root out any corruption in the party, which she is famous for doing. Sarah isn’t anyone, and she doesn’t do things because that’s the way they have always been done. SHe still could run for potus, but I tell you if we dont change the image of the party, we are in trouble. She wouldn’t attrack people who hate good, who think too much, and do little, or woman haters. THere is a reason why she strikes terror in so many peoples hearts! We should use that!
I’m sorry, but I think Palin as Chair is exactly what the party and the country needs.
The duties of the chair include setting the tone for the party, being an effective spokesperson and raising funds. Palin would excel at all three.
Most importantly, she’d make sure that the party was re-established as a conservative one at all levels.
Furthermore, if Palin turns the party around that’s nothing but a feather in her cap for a future run and takes away a lot of the “but she has no national experience” whine.
