Yesterday I was looking at the standings and realized W-L added up to 80 or near it, meaning midseason was upon us. Dunno how that happened, but anyway, that got me wondering if there was such a topic, so, there wasn’t, and here it is. :’)

Regarding Votto, dunno.

The broadcasters were agreeing with you about Votto today during the Tigers game.

I know if I were sending a rookie I would send Brennan Boesch (Tigers). 60 games in his career, 46 RBIs and a .344 batting average. The Orioles walked him 4 times today.

Interestingly enough I see Austin Jackson in the ad for the All Star game. He’s the Tiger rookie who gets the headlines but Boesch is a far better player in my opinion.

Glad to see that Baltimore is over the .300 mark.

The Rangers may be in first place now, but by September, they will have plenty of time to go to Cowboys games.

Tigers threw a newbie pitcher at them today and let them have batting practice for a little while. LOL

Yeah, it’s tough for a team to be on the outs (as it were), and believe me, I feel for Orioles fans. The Tigers not long ago (before Jim became manager) came within a whisker of setting a new record for most losses in a season, and that was merely the bottoming out of a long period of general ennui. Now, hey, they’re not bad.

“Glad to see that Baltimore is over the .300 mark.”

Yeah, and we Pirate fans are pretty happy with Baltimore’s recent surge ... we are only 7 or so games back of the Orioles for the worst record in baseball. It’ll be hard, but I think the Pirates can pull off nabbing the 1st overall pick next year. Of course, it won’t be the most talented pick of the draft since the Pirates will cry poor and not draft him, but, hey, it’s the prestige we are after, right? I mean, why only lose for 18 seasons in a row when 20 just sounds better.

It’ll take disciplined losing and more trades on our part, but I honestly think the Buccos can do it. Let’s Go Bucs!

So whatever happened to Alan Trammel anyway? Did he find work in baseball or did he just go home?

Don't be so sure. The Angels ain't what they used to be (Guererro now with Texas), Oakland is a lot of young no-bodies; and, my Seattle Mariners are, well, the Seattle Mariners. Sigh. I think this is the weakest division in all of baseball, so, Texas may have a shot at the playoffs this year. How far they go, well, that's another question.

And, hey, Felix Hernandez not on the All-Star roster? I know his win/loss looks pretty mediocre; but, most of those losses were lost by the bullpen this year. He has actually been having a good year pitching, tho his stats don't show it.

Sadly no. He's a coach for the Cubs.

LOL. As a Tiger fan its hard to not like the guy but his greatest managerial claim to fame was the fact that he got tossed out of a record number of games. We do have Lloyd McClendon who has the distinction of being famous for getting thrown out of a game and taking first base to the clubhouse with him.

As a Mariner fan, I have come to terms with the departure of Cliff Lee, one of the few, very few, bright spots of this season. The rumors were running fast and furious that NY wanted Cliff Lee; but I just caught this at a Mariner's fan blog, and they are usually pretty accurate:

"Deal With Rangers Done"

Dave · July 9, 2010 · Filed Under Mariners Per Joel Sherman, as always. Ken Rosenthal confirms.

"I have learned deal done with #Rangers, Smoak and 3 others for Lee and reliever Mark Lowe"

"I love Justin Smoak, and prefer him to Jesus Montero, so I’m prepared to dance with joy." "Celebration time. The M’s now have a first baseman of the present and future"

I just posted on this thread again, and it concerns the Rangers (Post #18). They may, waiting for actual confirmation, be adding Cliff Lee to their pitching staff.

I've been watching Lee this season pitch for the Mariners, and adding this guy to their roster will only improve their chances of taking the division.
