Anarchy reigned supreme again at the Tour de France as the pave’ may have dashed the hopes for many of the Tour’s favorites. General Classification contender Christian Vande Velde was unable to start today’s stage after a crash, in which he suffered broken ribs and re-injured is back, claimed his Tour hopes yesterday and Frank Schleck was claimed by a crash today which broke his collar bone.

The race was won by Cervelo’s Thor Hushovd who crossed the finish line pounding his chest with an emphatic victory over Saxo Bank’s Fabian Cancellara. The hell of the north turned out to be the decisive stage we all thought it would be. The one saving grace for this year’s tour contenders may be that if anything can go wrong, it can, and will – it’s just a matter of when.

Why did you post the results in the headline when many people are unable to watch the event live?

It's done all the time here, be it the Olympics, Tour de France, etc. For me, as a west coaster, I'm 3 hours behind.

The best bet it to not read FR when you have something you don't want spoiled.

Here's the daily live thread that Reddy4Freddy bumps to the top each morning during the telecast on Versus. Note it doesn't have any results in the title but don't click on it as it will have discussion as the stage progresses each day.

It happens all the time with and without "Spoiler alerts" and it's not just noobs. I've seen it done many times by veteran FReepers, some who have told me it was my fault for going on the Internet. It's a combination of selfishness and stupidity and it's not likely to end.

Yes, Lance still has a chance.Cadel is the big winner today but he is the worst climber. Andy is in great position but if Lance has some legs he and Alberto can burn up a few contenders.Lance will loose time to Alberto in the Mts but maybe not too much. It’s a sad thing about the crashes but this tour is shaping up to be a GREAT FIGHT because of how they are all positioned now!
