Not everyone who serves is deserving of respect.

Last April, WikiLeak.org and its owner, Julian Assange, edited and published a 2007 footage they entitled "Collateral Murder", which purported to show an American Apache helicopter killing unarmed civilians, including news reporters, in Iraq.

While WikiLeak.org is slated to release a new video of an alleged "massacre" by U.S. forces in Afghanistan, a 22 year old Pfc Army intelligence analyst serving in Iraq was detained about a month ago, accused of being the source of the leaked "Collateral Murder" video. Charges have now been brought:

BAGHDAD — An American soldier in Iraq who was arrested on charges of leaking a video of a deadly American helicopter attack here in 2007 has also been charged with downloading more than 150,000 highly classified diplomatic cables that could, if made public, reveal the inner workings of American embassies around the world, the military here announced Tuesday.

The full contents of the cables remain unclear, but according to formal charges filed Monday, it appeared that a disgruntled soldier working at a remote base east of Baghdad had gathered some of the most guarded, if not always scandalous, secrets of American diplomacy. He disclosed at least 50 of the cables “to a person not entitled to receive them,” according to the charges.

There used to be a word for this. Started with a "T", I believe.

The little POS. I’d be willing to bet his parents raised him to be a little POS and are now proud of him.

This could be as serious as the damage caused by the Walker family. I wonder if any of our CIA agents have disappeared lately? That baby-faced punk needs to go to the gallows.

He should be taken out and shot. The lowlife POS. He looks like a potential candidate for a DADT discharge.

I do not in any way condone “collateral damage,” but if you’ve watched all the video from WW2, we would still be fighting that war if avoiding collateral damage affected our aggressive strategery. The Allies’ campaign up the Italian peninsula was particularly brutal, with our artillery hammering the Germans, and, sadly, a whole lot of Italian citizens/allies. The same goes for the pre-invasion air and naval bombardment of the Normandy coast. Those little villages were flattened killing thousands of innocent Frenchmen. Sherman was so right.

It should be noted that the article refers to him as Pfc. Whereas the write up describes him as Specialist.

So he has already lost rank. My guess would be an article 15. For what he did, it could have been anything in the UCMJ. Just about everything in there would apply to this guy.

my question is: is the recipient of stolen classified documents in fear of prossecution? you would think being in possesion of illegaly obtained classified documents would be against some law...
